Hi Everyone,

I'm new to these games, having only recently picked up both DD and BD from GOG last weekend. DD was one of those games that I always meant to pick up but never really got around to it. Anyway now that I have I'm loving the game. I'm also feeling more than a tad bit overwhelmed. The game world is huge and I'm finding myself lost as to where to go and what do to do next. Sometimes the monsters are easy to defeat in an area, sometimes they spawn with a boss who kills me with one or two hits (I'm playing a melee warrior).

I've read through the starting out hints, and they've helped a lot. I suspose what I'm looking for is guideance on the best way to go about exploring the world without getting in over my head. Also is there any 'must have' skills that I need to invest in? By 'must have' I mean skills that if I haven't invested into them I wont be able to defeat the game.

Regards,

Raven.

If you find a particular area too tough, try a different direction first.

The game can be a little overwhelming at first. However, for most of the game I could pretty much switch between combat and non-combat interactions whenever I was in the mood for one or the other.
You can check your quest log, and either concentrate on clearing a specific area, or pick certain quests nearby to finish.

Lockpick is a highly recommended skill, as is Sword Expertise for a warrior. There aren't any 'must have' skills, though.
