What an incredibly refreshing RPG this is.

I am so tired of the auto-leveling monster RPGs that exist today. I can play just about every other RPG on XBOX 360 and *never, ever die*. Divinity II isn't an auto-leveling RPG. Finding better weapons actually creates the feeling that you have upgraded your damage capacity. One fight you can't win with a newbie sword is easily won with a couple of better weapons! Why has this fact been lost in every other RPG? Upgrading your skills really does make a difference! Being able to build any kind of character you want is the best way to make an RPG. I'm a dual-wielding female who shoots magic missles to soften up my enemies before thrashing them with double swords. But even then, the game is challenging, which is exactly the way an RPG should be!

I've been playing Divinity 2 now for about 5 hours and it is truly refreshing.

I actually feel like I'm playing an RPG again. Thanks, Larian.

Yes, it isn't a perfect game, but it's shaping up to be one of the better RPGs I've played over the years. I think the graphics could be smoother and cleaner, but it isn't bad enough to sour my taste. I prefer the music in the original Divine Divinity to Divinity 2, but then I have only seen a small fraction of the game and its music to this point.

If you are a true RPG fan and you're not sure whether or not to buy Divinity 2, don't hesitate. The RPG experience we RPG addicts crave is all here to be had. I'm enjoying every moment of it.

Well, then, excuse me for now. I'm going back to Divinity 2 to have some more RPG goodness.

Ah, well, let me amend my note about the music. I've now encountered some that is certainly better than the first music of the game.

It just keeps getting better.

Hmm ... but in that genre (hack'n slash RPG), there are also differences (?)
Like Dante's Inferno? I read about this game it is for sure a hack'n slash game, but not sure it is a RPG, but it has also some RPG elements ...

But Raven, in ALL RPG's a characker you make must kill enemies, always, isn't it?
And for me, Divinity II isn't hack'n slash (okay, a litle bit, I agree) .. the quests, skills and character build are so fun and killing enemies are necessary for XP! ... I find Divinity so addictive en funny ... biggrin

Can you, Raven, give examples of a RPG that isn't hack'n slash (at all)??

Sorry I go offtopic

In Planescape:Torment it is possible to finish the game with minimum amount of combat, and only using dialogue skills.

Another example of this is Fallout.

Divinity 2 is not a hack 'n slash. In hack 'n slash all there is to do is combat... with minimum amount of story & character interactions. Divinity 2 is not like this... Divine Divinity even less.

no it isn"t pure hack"n slash
That is why I play it in first place

It is strange mix
but still it is 75% hack"n slash

you know why?
becaose game force you to be high level
you can"t play main story if you aren"t finish side quests
you are forced to kill thousands

while in dragon age lets say
you can finish game on level 15-25
so you really don"t need to kill everything
same for fallout,Planescape torment,baldurs gate...
