Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Colors distorted in areas with low light

Dungeons, houses and generally at night there is a rainbow fest on every object. I have WinXP and an ATI x1600 card. Have tried every checkable option and as well as adding SplotchProblem 1. Nothing helped. desktop is at 16bit.

If you added the 'splotchproblem 1' line to the end of your config.lcl file, did you hit Enter afterwards? The game expects the last line to be blank, and ignores it.

The other workaround for this problem is to wait at least 45 minutes after booting into Windows to start the game.

If you have the disk version of the game, did you try running the configuration program and selecting DirectDraw or Software as the rendering method?

yep, i did the enter thing too, in config.lcl and tried the software/DDraw/D3D thing and other combinations of possible checkboxes(in the control utility, in the game and in Catalyst driver utility). Here is what it looks like:


im seriously lost. Cant see anything in a dungeon. Thats the better looking version with D3D. With software/DDraw these places are really messed up.

Have you tried running the game in compatibility mode? In XP I don't recall anything there that would help with graphics problems, though...

The last person with this problem managed to get it working by doing a clean reinstall twice. The dusk/dawn effect can sometimes be lost/gained when installing the game/patch, so maybe this is similar and a reinstall could randomly fix it.

Reboot fixed it.(i havent after install). No probs even with splotchproblem 0 now. If i understand it correctly it enables smooth day/night transition right. Howether i wouldnt say it was disabled earlier, so.. well it works now. Thx for guiding me.
