Game crashes on start up, saying "Divinity two has encountered a problem and stopped running"
I tried to uninstall, and it won't let me, saying file doesn't exist???? My computer did some weird stuff immediately after installing this game. Now I just want it off my system.
I am running Vista, which may be the problem. But please, someone help in getting this thing off my hard drive!

Delete the D2:ED folder, reboot, shut down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus), and re-install the game. If that doesn't fix the problem, it should at least allow you to use the un-install program to remove the game and registry entries, etc. I don't think there is much not stored in the game folder, other than the saves and a couple configuration files; in Vista / Win 7 these are located in the folder
C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Savegames

Thanks Angel. It worked. I guess I'd like to keep the game, but there are still some issues:
1. I have a pretty powerful system. It can run the latest titles on max settings....not so this game. When I try to up the resolution, the screen goes black. I can hear and move the character, but all is black. Maybe the patch released by Larian would help, which brings me to problem #2
2. patch will download, but won't run. I have no idea why. It downloads, I click run - nothing happens.
This is certainly the buggiest game I have ever encountered, but it seems fun, so I will persist in solving these issues. Thanks in advance for any input I get.

Try running the game as administrator, and in the compatibility options disable Desktop Composition. major bug with resolutions (i have a fix for you)Did you try running the patch as administrator? How long did you wait for the patch? Depending on the game language and region, the patch may be a fair size, so could just take awhile to load (the US PC hotfix is only 12MB, though, so with that version this shouldn't be an issue). Did you shut down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to install the patch? Did you download the patch manually, or go through the game's update function?
