Okay...I've managed to wipe out 3 out of the 4 nest thingies to shut down the anti-dragon zone, but I have not been able to fireball the 4th w/out getting totally annihilated and I've got two more shots to go before finishing off the last nest.

I'm a level 34 with about 900 in STR and 1250 or so in mana. I think my offense score is 42 and defense is 37. I've tried using the armor spell before that last encounter; I've called summoned the wyvern just before the last encounter, tried various potions before engaging and it just takes one shot from the memory-eaters to blow me away. I have been at this for several hours and am just about to give it up. I've even switched armors to see if that would help....no dice. I make sure I'm up to full strength before going in, but no matter what I do, I'm dead meat once I fire the fireball at the last nest.

Is there something I'm missing? There must be because I managed to get the other three. Took awhile, but I managed it. Can anyone give me some help so I can get rid of the 4th nest and finish the game? TIA

Try taking out the memory eaters first, then go after the nest. You should be able to clear them out faster than the remaining nest can produce more.

Thanks for your answer....I have read all the HOE posts, but I thought perhaps the last nest posed some other issues/strategies I hadn't figured out. Like I said, I got the other three; it's the 4th that's the killer, the lower one on the left as you face the entrance.

I've killed a ton of the memory eaters but they seem to keep spawning and in spite of my efforts it's a no-go for me. I did find that if I head toward a nest after a quick save and reload, I got myself a few precious seconds to be able to approach a nest without getting hit, but can't with the last nest.

Thanks anyway. I'll give it a bit more time, but I am not hopeful I will be able to get to the end game.

PS. I just went back to try again....two of the nests that I had eliminated reappeared and then when I re-loaded my quicksave they were gone. I think I give up...

I didn't have much problem with the nests, though I was a couple levels higher. Does one shot of Fire Sphere kill memory eaters for you? The nest should not be able to spit out more than one every 5 seconds (IIRC that is the cooldown time for Fire Sphere).

I assume you keep moving as you are attacking? (hit target lock for nests and circle around while holding the Fire Breath trigger/key down)

Did you try the summon spell? I didn't use it, but someone else posted that it was helpful in drawing off the focus of many of your opponents.

Did you lower the difficulty setting, if you are not already playing in easy?

I finally was able to get the last nest. I used my quicksave tactic which helped.

It seemed as though the nest was spitting out more then one at a time, but I changed my approach rather then head-on came from high up, locked on then immediately did the summon spell and polymorphed and fireballed, and managed one more hit(I needed two more), then got the last one in a similar fashion.

I did use the summon spell thru out this ordeal and it did draw off the m/eaters and I kept moving. After making a hit on the last nest, I backed all the way to the entrance healed and quicksaved, reloaded and got my couple of seconds with no beasties visible.

The disappearing/reappearing nests really got to me though. I used a lower diff setting for this area.

I spent hours here, but finally got thru and finished the game. That 4th nest caused me more trouble then anything else in the whole game and I just about packed it in. Thanks for taking the time to try to help me though. It's appreciated.
