Hi!

Earlier today i bought Divinity 2 through Steam and thought i could have some fun with that today.
But no luck, i have reinstalled 4 times, installed newest PhysX 4-5 times, rebooted lots. But no sucsess.

I tried installing physx from the Steamfolder, that dident work either.

YES i have :

* Install the latest version of PhysX and the Visual C++ redistributables.

* 2. Make sure you have the PhysX drivers installed that we shipped
with the game OR the latest PhysX drivers that you find on the nVidia website:

Get the latest here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_system_software.html
Or install from Divinity II DVD: [DVDROMDRIVE]:\Support\PhysX\PhysX_9.09.0428_SystemSoftware.exe
(since i have no DVD i used the Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\divinity ii - ego draconis\Support\PhysX folder. )

A second very important step to get PhysX installed right: run the following exe from the Divinity II DVD:

[DVDROMDRIVE]:\Support\Larian\PhysXRegInstaller.exe
(for me its Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\divinity ii - ego draconis\Support\Larian\ ) and btw nothing happens when i start this program.

So.... i have only been trying to play this for 4 hours. Fun times smile

What error message are you getting?

In the topic Win7x64 Nvi Phyxs error, Tranis got a consistent 'Driver update required' error trying to start the game, but a re-install (described later in the topic) got it working.
Even if you have a different issue, maybe that or one of the other suggestions in the topic might help.

I use XP btw.

Error Initalizing Divinity2

Couldn't initialize nVidia PhysX. Make sure you have installed the lasest(it actually says lasests :p) nVidia PhysX software(which can be downloaded at www.nvidia.com).

And yes, i have done this. Several times. Its kinda boring to download 7(?) gb from Steam more than twice, so havent reinstalled a third time yet.

You shouldn't need to re-download the game to re-install it. In the topic I lined to above, it was just the PhysX drivers that Tranis needed to re-install (a specific way) to get it working.

It seems the the older drivers only install into the 32bit systems, and thus if I edit the reg files ( adding the enableLocalPhysXCore) it rights the mto both, what I did was,

Well, i have that value in regedit. Also running 32bit system, so i doubt his fix will do the trick for me :-|

Does Steam have an FAQ or forum you can check?

Did you try emailing Steam's support, or supportintl@dtp-entertainment.com / support@larian.com?

There is another patch being released this 'summer' (no official release date, but expected around the release of the add-on), which could conceivably help.

Do you have any other games that use PhysX, or is there a demo / benchmark you could try to see if the problem is PhysX itself, or with D2:ED starting PhysX?

I had a similar issue, it turned out that physx had bound the mac address of Hamachi's virtual Ethernet adapter, once I changed the bound MAC to my actual adapter then Boom it worked.

Thanks for the feedback. I would have thought PhysX would just use the default internet connection, if it needed one at all...

how to fix "Couldn't initialize nVidia PhysX. Make sure you have installed the lasest nVidia PhysX software (which can be downloaded at http://www.nvidia.com)" on your PC
1. download PhysX-9.12.0613-SystemSoftware pada nvidia.com
2. install it
3. for 32 bit : open C:\program files\NVIDIA Corporation\physx\common
and copy all files to C:\windows\system32
for 64 bit : open C:\program files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\physx\common
and copy all files to C:\windows\system32 and C:\windows\sysWOW64

then try again to open divinity 2 and enjoy it
i hope it work
