On One of my "jumping down from ledge to ledge" explorations, I inadvertently ended up above a whole host of imps - guarding (I think) a mine.
So I stayed one ledge-worth above them and started attacking with poison arrows .. and killed quite a few smile

My next thought was to summon my creature and possibly venture down to kill a few more. However, I wasn't allowed to summon him, so I'll have to re-think that strategy laugh

Thank you all for your posts up

Save, jump down and then summon the creature. If it doesn't work out, you just saved, so can reload and then re-think the strategy. evil

It may be better to have a strategy, but as long as you have a recent save, a 'no guts, no glory' attitude often works out, as well. Plus, that keeps things interesting.

Well ....

I've tried all kinds of tactics to progress but since I gained the "dragon" ability - even with all your help - this game has just become too difficult for me down

I will have to move on.

I play games for entertainment and enjoyment and I'm no longer getting either from DD2. I'm just constantly struggling.
I know I'm not the best RPG player ever. In fact I've probably only managed to finish ten or so in all the years I've been playing them but I DO know when to throw in the towel hahaha

Thanks again !!

Are you already playing on easy difficulty?

Maybe if you try it again someday, you can build a more effective character before getting the battle tower, so the difficulty afterwards wouldn't be a problem.
The next patch (expected around or before the release of FoV and DKS in October) is changing / adjusting the relatively strong level dependence of combat, so that may make things easier, as well, dealing with level 21 opponents at level 20, etc.

That's indeed good news Raze wink

@madwill:
I understand your frustratings. The first time I play an RPG I have also the feeling: so difficult game, this can NOT be !!! I stop it!
But with a little more patient & bring myself more courage, I didn't stop playing that so difficult game and play it to the end on "easy" difficulty and that's NOT a shame ! smile

On the other side their are gamers who still find this game TOO easy !! Can YOU imagine? But it's true !!

And I, for example wish to play all kind of RPG's from now on on "hardcore" mode just because I find it fun & entertainment & enjoyment (and many more words I can insert here!) to bring "challenging" to myself while playing a RPG !! Can YOU imagine that? Over a few years ago giving myself an extra challenge? Oh no, I dared not even think about!
So you can see, I learn a lot since I play my first RPG (2005) and my gamestyle changed more and more ...

Ten (10) games? All RPG's? That's at least double what I played already :hihi: !!
O man, don't give up too fast ... and play perhaps Divine Divinity? You won't regret it ! wink

Hi smile

I may indeed try the game again at some later date but for now I've re-installed the "original" Divine Divinity for a confidence boosting re-play !! grin
IT is one of those 10 or so RPGs I did manage to play right through to the end.

My computer games date back to 1989 - although mostly Adventure - so you can see just how thinly spread my RPG triumphs are ?? wink

My very first completed "action" type games were from Sierra's Quest for Glory series and I think my latest "modern" completed RPG was The Witcher.

I did the whole of (and really liked) Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Morrowind etc and got very close to completing Drakensang and Risen.
But as long as I've enjoyed playing the rest, I don't mind all that much not being able to win the very last fight in a game.
I can happily live with my limitations hahaha

First RPG I ever played was Final Fantasy 7. I didn't have any RPG's for SEGA smile
But since then I've played quite a few, either way I've always favoured the warrior types.
Some have been so hard as to make me TAKE A BREAK from them. So I'll play something else for a week or 2 and then get right back into it, with a renewed sense of F*CK YA I can do this. And sure enough I just waltz right through it smile.
Learned this after too many broken controllers laugh

I came to Div 2 rather late (no PC for quite awhile), but I had played Div Div and BD, they were awesome gamess. Humour was always rampant in the Div games and that made them all the more attractive to me.

When I heard about D2, I did a bit of investigating, I was a little surprised with the mediocre reviews I read, but I figured its Larian, it should be good. I heard (read) people say that the game was frustrating for the first 15 (?) levels, well I'm only level 9, heading to the tower currently and havent had any problems or frustrations (Mage/Melee, only mage skills though).

I think its the nature of any half decent RPG, that you will eventually hit a brick wall and need to go level up and then come back to that wall.

The only complaint I have with D2 is the map, its the most useless I have seen in a RPG, with its lack of information (or maybe I'm missing something), also, I dunno why there is a mini map as it seems useless and just basically a compass.

I love the voice acting in this game Richard is a particular favourite, but the dry wit and the variety of accents is really nice, also the names (Peggy Sue, Stan, Ollie etc) are quite funny too smile

Anyway, back on topic, hope you get back in the saddle soon smile

I have the same problem as the original poster, quoted below. Although I hate this jumping business, I have managed without too much trouble to set the three levers and jump to the highest platorm.

I assume that the final jump is to a balcony with a lever that is easily visible to me. I can't get there. I've successfully jumped all the other platforms, but I've been trying this for two days, moving camera angle and starting point with no success. I must be doing something wrong, so if someone can tell me what it is, I'll be most grateful, so I can continue to play this game.

Personally, in an RPG, I think that including such difficult jumping in optional side quests is fine for those who can do them, but to put it in the main quest where you cannot move on is poor game design. It doesn't encourage players who don't have that kind of small motor skill talent to continue to purchase titles from this company.

I hope someone can help me move on. Thank you.

[This is the area of three rooms where one has a small cup to find, one has a pumpkin and the last one (the one I'm in) has lots of platforms.]

After an incredible number of pathetic jumps I have finally managed to get to the last two or maybe three platforms close to the top of the room - but these last ones are totally defeating me.

Can someone please offer some platform jumping tips ??
No matter if I take a running jump from the back end or a smaller jump from nearer the front edge (of the platfrom I'm on) I constantly fall to the ground before reaching the next platform rolleyes

thankyou

Once you move the 3 levers to form a staircase (hit the left lever twice and the other 2 once), you just need to jump up the 3 platforms to the final platform and hit the lever there.

Here is a link for a YouTube video of someone doing this section, or a longer video (in German), if you think it might help to see it being done.

Raze,

Thank you for replying so swiftly. I've found your tips to be amazingly helpful with every search I've done.

The problem with this one is that I had done everything you say, and as far as I can tell, everything in the video. I made it to the highest platform just before the jump to the last one where the final lever is. I just cannot make that last jump. I fall short no matter where I stand or how I angle the camera. I must not be doing it right, but can't figure out how to move on. I don't want to stop playing the game but I don't know what else to do.

Honestly, I feel there should be another way around it since this is a main quest line. Even if it gives lesss experience or a lesser reward, it's better than having to throw the game away.

I guess you've done all you can, so thanks again for trying.

So you make it to the third lever-moved platform, but can not get to the ledge with the final lever? That should be the easiest jump of that part (the jump to the first platform being moderately easy, with the ones from the first to second platform and second to third requiring a bit of timing and coordination).

Hit each of the levers a few times, and make sure the three platforms each end up in their middle height positions, forming a stair like configuration up to the final ledge.

Please accept my sincere thanks. I knew I must be doing something wrong. I did not have the platflorms lined up at the exact heights they needed to be. As you suggested, I fiddled around with the three levers. Once I lined them up properly, all the jumps were really fairly easy make.

You are most kind and generous with your help.

I'm trying to find the key to unlock the cage in Lady Kara's area. I watched my husband play it and when he got to it, he already had the key. I know there are a few things he has done that I have not but I just can't think of where that key was.

Though, for him one of the guys up top that you trade with didn't lower his prices cause he freed the girl. But when I mindread him he lowered his prices for me. But I still want to free her.

The key is on the beach below, near the cliff, more towards the eastern end (I swam over before getting the battle tower, and missed it clearing Black Ring soldiers on the way by, but after getting to the end of the beach with the barrier, noticed it on my way back).

I don't think freeing the prisoner should have any influence on whether the traders lower their prices.

The jumping for me is my LEAST favorite part of the game i LOATH any quest requiring it. I play on the Xbox though and my main problem (which i have overcome due to the maxis temple) is that when you press to hard on the left analog stick it makes you draw your weapon/s and you drop right to the ground. I have since become more gentle and was able to complete it. i will avoid any jumping quest in the future that is not something important to me.

I didn't have that problem in D2:ED playing a warrior, but in DKS during hectic fights playing a ranger have accidentally pressed the left stick when trying to dodge or jump. The draw / sheath weapon function should only be triggered when the left stick is centred, IMNSHO.
