I don't remember being as frustrated with the first game as I consistently am with this one. *sigh*

So. I'm level 34 and change. I've beat all the Flying Fortresses. I've completely upgraded my tower. I'm wearing Ulthring's armor set, I am charmed and enchanted out the wazoo, and I am basically a completely untouchable badass that no enemy can dent. My skill set keeps me hale and hearty in mass melee situations and I deal out impressive 2H damage with my shiny stabby death swords. My creature is a disgusting, dripping thing of necromantic strength and beauty.

And. I. Cannot. Advance. The. Game.

Because I can't keep up in Aleroth. I helped Zandalor and Deodatus close the two upstairs portals, but in many, many efforts I am unable to get that third one downstairs done. OF the 60 seconds on the timer, the closest I've ever come is to have :18 remaining and usually I don't even make it to :30. I haven't had a dent put in me but I literally can't move fast enough to be where they are, particularly those crawlers.

Any advice? I'm about to tear my hair out over here. And usually in that case my strategy is "go work on something else first," but... there are no more somethings else. I used up the whole game.

What class is your creature? A mage head would probably be better than a ranger head, and either better than a warrior head. A demon summon could also help, if you have a skill point or two to spare.

If you stick close to Zandalor you should have an easier time protecting him. I stayed in front of him to cover those two rifts, occasionally having to Rush Attack a memory eater from the rift in the back. A bow didn't do a great deal of damage (didn't invest in any ranger skills), but it did help draw opponents to me, rather than have them go directly to Zandalor.
I was level 35 or 36 when I did that section, one of the final things before heading to the hall of echoes (duel wielding maxed, level 10 Bleed, etc).

If you are not already playing on easy you could temporarily lower the difficulty.

If you completed Keara's fortress fairly recently, and have a save before solving the statue puzzle, you could keep clicking on the door there to spawn more opponents, in order to level (how to reach level 40+).

You need to midread Xanlosch (in Stone's flying fortress) to get Ulthring's gauntlets.
