Flames of Vengeance ( FAQ) is an upcoming add-on (German version released already) for the game Ego Draconis. If you keep a save from near the end of the main game you can keep going with the same character from D2:ED straight into FoV and continue/conclude the story of the dragon knight. Alternately, you will be able to start a new (level 35) character at the beginning of FoV. There will also be a release combining a remastered version of D2:ED with FoV, called Dragon Knight Saga. DKS will be released on PC and Xbox; there will be a stand-alone release of FoV on PC, but it is too large for DLC on Xbox.

And you also sell the original version.. No, I have still the orignal version at home, the Xbox version. But now I'm waiting for the DKS.

I'm wondering if someone can take the time to explain whether there is actually any difference between the Dragon Knight Sage versus having Ego Draconis plus FoV installed. There is a lot of talk about how the DKS will feature a remastered D2:ED, but I've also read that the visual updates and gameplay tweaks from FoV will take affect in a new game of ED when both are installed.
Basically, if you already own D2:ED on the PC, is there any point in getting DKS, or should I just pick up FoV?
Thanks!

DKS includes content changes, in addition to engine/texture updates and bug fixes, etc, (a redesign of the flying fortresses being the most significant change mentioned so far). Presumably in the next couple of months Larian will go into more detail about the differences. See Lar's posts in A quick status update, etc.

Thanks for the info.
I must admit, this seems a little unfair. I happily bought a second copy of Divine Divinity (GOG.com) for the remastered copy - a company supporting a game that came out seven years prior deserves my money. But D2 is only a little over a year old - a better version of the same game coming out so soon makes me a feel a little done over, TBH.

Well, when they are released look at the price difference between FoV and DKS and see if it is worth it for whatever the feature differences are between the two, or wait for DKS to drop in price to whatever you were willing to pay for FoV. Depending on the changes in DKS you may not feel you are missing much by just getting FoV, and depending on the price difference it may not be worth worrying about the feature differences. On the Xbox the choice is to either get DKS or not, and in my limited experience few Xbox games ever drop much in price.

a better version of the same game coming out so soon makes me a feel a little done over, TBH. That's why I'm thinking that we must be reading something wrong. Surely the base game + patch + FoV expansion = DKS edition. I'm hoping that's the case and am planning on picking up FoV when it's released.

If you have the Xbox 360 version, you have to buy DKS. There will be no patch for D2:ED for the Xbox 360 and there will be no FoV expansion released seperately. Only way to experience FoV and the remastered D2:ED on a Xbox 360, is to buy DKS.

What makes you think there is not going to be an Xbox patch?

Lar_q wrote ( here ) : So, to avoid confusion - what we're planning on doing is :
Release Flames Of Vengenace seperately on PC Release Ego Draconis (remastered heavily) together with Flames Of Vengeance on PC & X360 under the name The Dragon Knight Saga.I haven't seen it written that a remaster patch will not be made for Xbox 360, but why would they, if FoV doesn't come out separetely on the Xbox 360? Furthermore I'm not sure that patches in the size of GB are allowed by Microsoft. ...and I have made several comments strongly disliking the idea of having to buy Ego Draconis for the Xbox 360 again in order to play FoV - and never has anyone denied that delicate scenario. My conclusion: DKS will be the only release for the Xbox 360 whereas PC owners will get options of patch, FoV and DKS.

There is no 'remaster patch' on PC or Xbox. I can see an Xbox patch just to update D2:ED with the equivalent of the PC FoV updates possibly going over the size limit, especially for the UK version which didn't get the 1.03 updates, but if so, some or all of the larger texture or artwork changes could probably be dropped to keep the size down.

Since there is no stand alone add-on for the 360 does that mean that you can't import a character from D2:ED? I'd really like to not need to play all the way through again lol.

Unfortunately D2:ED saves are not compatible with DKS. I'm planning on going through DKS with a different character anyway, but would have preferred to be able to continue with my existing character.
There has not been any mention of importing saves. At least theoretically it might be possible to import a character from a save at the end of the hall of echoes, since presumably there wouldn't be as many chances of conflicts if you are not going back to D2:ED locations; I don't know if changes to item generation, or something, would cause a problem anyway, though.
In D2:ED + FoV it will be possible to start a new level 35 character to start at the beginning of the add-on. Maybe DKS will include that option, as well.

well i personally hope theres that option ... it would suck to have to pay 60-70 bucks just to play the add on...Thanks for the info though Raze
I still don't understand why Larian can't do what Bioware did with Dragon Age: Awakening by making it a seperate disc...
