Level 21 and have a level 5 lock picking and life leech.

I've not gotten anything out of chests that's even worth the skill points I've invested.

And with life leech it's the same way, I hardly leech any life most of the time which in my opinion isn't worth the skills invested in the long run... Now life leech MAY be good if I had a lot of leech enchanted equipment but I don't right now.

Discuss? I personally think maybe resetting your skills later once you've got better eq and investing into Life Leech with some life leech gear it MIGHT be useful... But right now life leech is hardly useful.

Early in the game Lockpick is more useful in terms of frequency of finding upgrades. Just for balancing, later in the game you level more slowly, so great loot has to slow down, as well. Later in the game I started getting more equipment from random drops (regular or boss opponents) and merchants (particularly in Aleroth), but didn't get rid of Lockpick until I reskilled before heading to the Hall of Echoes.

I only put a couple points in Life Leech, and did notice a couple situations where it helped, but didn't check the numbers.

Alright thanks for the input. To be quite honest I've not found ANY noticeable equipment or items from lock picking, at best I may have found a few recipes but other than that I don't think it was worth the skill points.

I guess for Life Leech to be good you need it at a high level, 10+ and than the rates on it are pretty decent. Think I'm going to spend the 5k and rethink my skills, anyway thanks.

I've never had a use for life leech, I put my points on the regeneration rate upgrade and change any equipment I find that has the life leech enchantment over to the life aura {regen rate}. I have been lucky to have found the aura that will regen at the rate of 0.2 and 0.175. I max out the lock pick for the simple reason of being able to open any chest i want, so i don't have to rely on finding the key. I also lean heavily on the alchemy {potion brewing skill} too, because there just isn't a lot of plant life to be found, to make the potions I need. one thing I wished they had done was to make them a little more plentiful {like in the "Gothic" series}, but you make do with what you find.

All is worth to try out at least once wink
But Lockpick is good I find. But I take just enough points in Lockpck to open locket chests that have no key or I can't find the key after a thorough exploration wink .

And Life Leech (enchantment) I find also good, for me especially on a melee weapon because that help a bit to survive better the (most heavy) melee figthers (plus I use summon Ghost: he heal me and use fireballs at enemies!).
If I find a good Life Leech enchantment on a weapon, I don't think I take the skill Life Leech too.
Regenerate skill and enchantment Healing Aura I also find very useful ! I think I take both, the skill and search for equipment with Healing Aura on. smile

Yes, Life Leech is worth it. I just played the final boss on Nightmare, and I was very badly injured until I whacked a summoned enemy Demon... once, and I was back to full (1100 HP). I don't even think I had it maxed out.

Lockpick may not technically be needed, but you can spare the skill points, and you get free money and stuff.
