I'm just a level 12 mage, and I've already found 2 vampires that I can't touch. Either one kills me in a few seconds. Immune to Freeze spells - will higher level Freeze spells work? Special weapons needed? Or is it just that I need to be much higher level??

thnx for any help
MikeK

ps - I don't want to go to a walkthrough, cause it's too hard not to read it all

No special weapons are needed. I would guess a higher level Freeze spell would work, but I never played a mage, and don't know what their resistances are, etc. I cleared the majority of Rivertown before heading to Verdistis, so didn't have any problem with the vampire there. For the one in the dark cave I don't recall what level I was when I first got there (cleared around Aleroth, the farmlands and Ars Magicana), but I had to leave and return later after I had leveled a bit (and found better equipment).

In the dark cave, if you get in behind the coffin as far as possible before opening it, that may give you an advantage. Someone mentioned using Deadly Disks to take out the Verdistis vampire before it could get to them. Meterorstrike has a bit of a stunning effect, and can be cast quite quickly (and if you can get off a cast of the survivor's Curse spell first, it would be more effective). Mostly you just need to be a higher level, though.

I defeat the Vampire in the Dark Cave when I was at least level 20.
It's strange that the Frost spell did not work, but IF you attack with a weapon that have Frost on it, it works ! smile Try with Poison damage or take the skill Poison Weapon, great skill! biggrin ... sercainlt if yo want to kill Orcs (mostly with a bow and Splittign Arrows very great !)

My Bastard Sword of the Brain have many kind of extra damages,
like Frost(2), Poison Damage(2), Life Drain (3) and Mana Drain(3).

On 7th of february 2015 : I start a new adventure in the Divinity world of Original Sin,
it's a Fantastic Freaking Fabulous Funny ... it's my All Time Favorite One !
