I'm in the room in Maxos' temple where you must jump from platform to platform. The first and second seem ok but for the life of me I can't seem to jump to the moving platform. Is there something I should be doing or not doing?

Do you have a problem with the timing, or the jump itself? The first moving platform should be relatively easy to get to, IIRC, by running and jumping diagonally as it approaches.

Do you continue to keep the left stick forward (Xbox version) or hold the W key down (PC version) while jumping?

From the walkthrough:
Quote
1: Climb the ladder, then leap to the next platform and flip the lever.
2: Wait for the moving platform to draw close, then jump on it.
3: From there, jump onto the platform that the current one is moving towards.
4: Turn right and jump across the room to another platform.
5: Flip the lever to activate a teleporter near the ground.
6: Jump down and enter the teleporter.
7: Find the three levers nearby and face out towards the rest of the room.
8: Flip the left lever twice, the middle lever once, and the right lever once.
(each lever affects the height of another platform - the goal is to create a
stairway up to the far end of the room).
9: Hop across the platforms to another lever and flip it. Good kitty.

Depending on the situation you may find that either an extreme high or low camera angle may help.

Thank you Raze. I will keep it up. I think I am just losing my hand-eye coordination. I get to the first lever OK but I have not got to the moving platform. Does the posision of the target icon make a difference? I am on PC.

Thanks for the help and the welcome.

The position of the target icon itself doesn't make a difference with the jump, but sometimes I found it easier to get the jump direction, timing and/or landing right with a different camera angle (for that particular jump I had the camera straight ahead, IIRC).

A gamepad might make it easier to jump, if you have one, or just a remapping of the keys. For example, from the topic Sinister Cavern (spoilers):

I left the Journal, Map and so forth, set the way they were..

Here is a link for a YouTube video of someone doing this section, or a longer video (in German), if you think it might help to see it being done.

Thanks to you Raze. I finally got it done. Saving after each jump sure helped. Also aiming above the platform seemed to help. Thanks again.

I thought I'd mention that after I finally used the levers correctly to line up the staircase platforms, I actually jumped straight to the second one, bypassing the first completely. It wasn't intentional, but it was a nice surprise and sure made things easier.
