So, as you may read here -- http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=444698816877 -- Larian is ready to open it's own digital shop (game/multimedia content), which means that things go pretty well for the studio, right?

Discuss.

Hmmm, not sure ALL things go pretty well for the studio ...
If I read next, I think Larian Studios try something new (for them) and see if it is successful ! wink
If not, I think it was a good thing to even try it out. All new things have a risk, but it is always courageous to give it a go ! laugh

"It's part of our making ourselves even more independent strategy, and if the Larian Vault turns out to be successful, we'll probably do more through that in the future."

Not necessarily. What it DOES mean is that Larian will (Or should) get a lot more money from each sale, as they save on a ton of costs usually associated with distribution of physical media.

So it's a good thing for the company (Hopefully) but not really a sign of success.

It's like Musicians effectively circumnavigating distributors. I think they are trying this as well.
Actully, I'm not quite surprised, having read the "status update" involving a gone-bancrupt Belgian development studio a few months ago ...

I remember that status update, but was it Belgian, not German?

Belgian. They had an easy-to-memorize name ... Can't remember it, though ... delight

Actually, I'm surprised there is no DD and BD in the store.

I'd guess that DD & BD are covered by distribution deals with publishers, though I could be wrong. They may simply need a bit of updating to run on modern systems before being added to the shop.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't one of those two reasons, though.

The vault works great, I bought FoV from there, the whole process was very smooth, though I wasn't sure if I was doing it right at first because of the prices all being in Euros lol.
