First, the Dragon Armor quest is not going well. I have spoken to the King, Patrick and tried everything. I have tried renaming the dialog.000 file with a previously saved game, and even a new game. I cannot get back into the Dungeon of the Castle via the sewers because the staircase is locked and I cannot pick the lock for some reason. How do I get in? Also, there is not a chest in the basement in house for the Dragon Belt. Did I do something wrong?
Second, can I complete the Silver Larian if I do not have the wine anymore?
Last, what is a good level to be to ring the gong? I am 38 now and not sure if I need to try to wrap up the quest before I go.
1) The Dragon Armor Quest: If you have finished the Stone of Axe quest, have given the axe to the Dwarven King, and he doesn't reveal anything about the Dragon Armor, then you are missing a cruicial item. You should go back down into the Dwarven Mines and look for a letter that implicates the Black Ring as well as the Mayor of the Dwarven Village. DRAG AND DROP that message into your inventory, then before you go and meet the king, drag and drop that message from your inventory onto the ground, as far as you can throw it inside the Dwarven King's room. I am also assuming you did the Warrior's Guild quest + Heart of Dragon, so now the Dwarven King should give you more information about the Dwarven Armor.
1 Continued) What do you mean by Castle Dungeon? By this point in the game you should be totally done with the Duke's Castle. As for the Belt of the Dragon, here's a hint: The key to the chest is hidden in a cupboard in the house, and after you fall into the hole in the house, start moving and bashing away at all the barrels you see. Throw them all into a pile and dig until you find a chest. The key should fit into the chest, and voila! A pile of gold and the nice plate belt. Be sure to save and reload a few times.
2) The Silver Larian Armor: Yes, you can complete the quest even if you don't have the wine. Just go to the ale-maker in the Dwarven Village and ask him five times (five different initations of dialogues) for a bottle of ale.
3) You might want to be about level 40 before you hit the gong, but level 38 is plenty. If you worry, I say, don't worry. The several quests (Dragon Armor, Larian, etc.) will give you plentiful quest experience to give you at least another level.
I hope this is helpful!
