i just purchased the game found it at best buy for 30$ didnt know there was a updated version that dragon knight saga (cry)(just bought a $30 paper weight).......anyway when i try an play the game it either freezes on the new game/ load game screen or about 5 mins of playing the charater just runs in place. the game when i can get it to work works fine the opening movie runs great

please someone help me been waiting for YEARS for a game to play as a dragon an the game gods seem to be against me

There is a patch in the works to convert D2:ED into DKS, minus the FoV content. It will require approval from the publishers, but hopefully that will not be a problem.

Is the running in place happening at a consistent spot, or the same type of terrain, or just random?

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before starting the game?

it seems to be random in that starting area with the running in place an i close everything when im running it or atleast i think i have closed em all

how would i go about converting the d2 ed to the dks ?

Try emailing support@larian.com. I recall someone else having this problem some time ago, but I couldn't find the topic (someone else mentioned it in one of the first aid topics, but that was the only post they made, so I don't know if they got it fixed).

Larian is still working on the conversion patch. There are patches for the various language versions of FoV/DKS being made, as well, so they will probably be released first (so the conversion patch will include those updates). The German FoV patch is expected early next week; things have been mentioned that will be included in the next English patch (like a harder difficulty mode), but I don't know if that is a short or longer term target.

i have done the first aide fixes an i get through the new game/ load game screens but about 3 mins of playing it freezes

I have exactly the same problem as Myrdain. Sometimes the game freezes completely, sometimes the character keeps running, audio continues, waterfalls still fall etc, but the only thing I can do is open the task manager and end the process.

I've been through pretty much all the posts describing this type of problem, been through the first aid threads too. Uninstalled old drivers, AMD dual core optimization patch, all that jazz, but no luck. Sometimes it runs for half an hour without freezing, other times about 30 seconds. I have noticed oddly enough that it seems to run longer when the graphics are turned UP, but that might just be coincidence. I have the STEAM version, so unfortunately I can't try any of the hotfix patches.

Sorry to post this in someone elses thread, but I thought considering it was the same problem for both of us, a bump and a bit more attention couldn't hurt to solve our problems!

The patch is available on Steam, but you have to download it manually (it's not set to auto-update).

Posting an existing topic about the same/similar problems is a good idea; any suggestions, feedback or solutions will be in fewer posts if anyone else runs into this, and hopefully it will help Larian keep track of the problem better.
