Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Blacking out

OK This is realy starting to bug me, if im playing afta the first 30-40 mins the screen will go black then the game will go off. Then when I play it again it will be fine. Is this some kind of bug or is it a problem with my computer?

check your setting on the vid card,
try skip test during config

As Alrik said, if you don't have the patch applied yet, please do so.
Download the patch over here

Also pay attention to the following, as it usually solves this problem:

* Make sure all your drivers are up to date and you have the latest service packs and windows updates installed.
* Make sure the color depth of your desktop is set to 16 bits.
* Make sure you have no other applications running in the background (e.g. antivirus progr., ICQ,...)
* Make sure you have enough free hard disc space
* Make sure you have full read/write access to the folder where you installed Divine Divinity

You also might want to check if there is a file called error.txt in the run folder of the folder where Divine Divinity was installed, as it might contain helpful hints.

This has been told to me a million times. Well, not really a million but, it has been told alot. I have done everything that I have been told. The only solution has been to keep 5 saves instead of 1-2.

could it be... that your "new" vid card.....has a flaw?

My GeForce 4 Ti 5600 is just fine. I am not having the black out problems anymore. It just occured for 2-3 hours. Never had it do that to me after then.

I recommend using Nview for cool enchancements for the Geforce. I have a Geforce2......... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> oh well...works good enough for me.
