Hi Larian Studios.

First of all I must say that I love this game! One of the best RPG's I've played (and I've been around since the NES era). Spot on music, dialogue and level design. Interesting skill trees and fun combat.

Now to my problem:

Before I finished Broken Valley and entered Maxos' Temple I felt extra adventurous and entered Oroba's Fjord. Much to my amazement I could enter the area and even kill the first goblins I encountered (resulting in a whooping 3900 xp from each goblin). I continued down the path, took the grand knight shrine waypoint, went a bit further until I encountered the knight in distress.
After shooting a few arrows on these goblins I noticed that they didn't lose any health at all. Thinking that this was a way to prevent me from continuing further in Oroba's Fjord at this point in the story I returned to the waypoint and continued my quest inside Maxos' Temple.

Today I conquered my Battle Tower and was at the point where I was supposed to go to Oroba's Fjord, but to my disappointment I found out that the goblins were still immortal!

Edit: I flew past them in dragon form and tried killing other mobs. Seems like it's ONLY the goblins that are supposed to fight the knight that are immortal. The knight on the other hand is standing further up the passage and are not in distress at all, nor can I talk to him smile

Edit2: The lvl 18 goblins near the waterfall cave gave me 2200 exp each, and I'm lvl 20! Waaay too much exp. I'll enter the cave and report how much the higher leveled mobs are giving.

Edit3: Lvl 23 skeletons and dragon elves are giving me 2400 exp each (I just reached lvl 21). Seems like something's off with the exp calculation here.

In D2:DE several people reported specific opponents being invulnerable, but IIRC leaving the area and returning would generally fix the problem. A couple these cases were with goblins the start of the fjords (a goblin chief near the teleporter, and another at the same spot as you); one person left and returned later, while another just skipped that section of the path by jumping off the mountain, and when they worked their way back up later, didn't have any problem doing damage.

Have you tried magic or melee attacks, or summoned your creature to see if it could do damage?

Since you are past that section of the path, try returning later.

If you are playing the PC version, a save to support@larian.com might help them figure out what the problem is.

The number of imps along one of the paths was reduced and the flying fortresses streamlined a bit in DKS compared to D2:ED, so the extra experience points may just be balancing that out.

Hi.

Thanks for the quick response. The first time I tried working my way back up they were still immortal, but after I'd entered the waterfall cave I could kill them again. I had lured a goblin chief and the knight all the way back up to the "Red Ore Alert" quest giver, but once I could kill the goblin the ran aaaaalll the way back to his original position so I could talk to him again.

The lvl 18 goblins were now giving me 300 xp (since I'm now lvl 21), so there's definitely something fishy with the exp gain.

In my oldest D2:ED save I had already cleared out the goblins and the primordial cave up to the door opened by the seeds quest. At level 23, the level 21 imps along the path to the harbour were giving me 830 exp, so that would be about 1050 if I were level 21.

If the experience scaling with level difference is the same as it was in D2:ED, there is a 21% drop in experience if you are 2 levels below your opponent, and a 63% drop if you are 3 level above, but that isn't nearly enough to explain the drop in experience you had with the goblins, though.
