Hi all,

Does anybody know if Flames of Vengeance is available as a separate add-on in Australia, or whether it will be?

It seems that EB Games here is currently stocking The Dragon Knight Saga, which apparently bundles both the original game and the expansion. But they don't know of any plans to stock just the Flames of Vengeance expansion. Games stores seem pretty thin on the ground round here now, and I haven't been able to find anybody else here in West Australia who stocks it at all.

I already have Ego Draconis and another $70 for DKS seems a lot to pay just to get the extra hours of gaming in FoV.

Any information about who might stock it, and/or when, would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi again,

Just to clarify the question:

As far as I can see from reading the information at various spots at Larian, FoV and TKS were both released in English about a week ago, but I'm having trouble confirming what formats they're available in.

The FoV page at Larian Vault clearly shows an English language cover art for a DVD version of FoV for PC.

Is there actually such a thing available in Australia please?

I'd buy it from Larian Vault, but the size is just too big for my connection.

Cheers,

Chris

There were plans originally to release FoV on DVD, but I think only the German version was; English versions are just available as digital downloads.

Thanks very much for the reply Raze.

I guess I must be old fashioned. I just assume that when game makers announce release dates they mean that the game or expansion will find it's way to the shops on a DVD or CD, unless they clearly state otherwise . It seems that's no longer true.

Maybe shops are fading as the primary retail outlet anyway? When I was looking for somewhere to buy FoV I noticed that several of our local game stores had recently closed their doors. Even a big Australian site that retails games online on DVDs and mails them out has closed "to restructure and refocus". Sad in way, as I've always enjoyed browsing the shelves and having a physical manual and box, but I guess things move on.

Faster broadband doesn't seem to be coming to our location any time soon, so I guess it's a choice between missing out, or shelling out another $70... Hmmm.... decisions, decisions...

By coincidence, it's my 64th birthday today - so I'll be able to answer the all important question "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64" as the Beatles once sang. If the wife says "Yes" then maybe I'll celebrate by lashing out on the full DKS package. smile

Thanks,

Chris

I've got the same decision, playing on Xbox, but the game is good enough I don't mind paying slightly more for DKS than I would have needed to if there was an FoV Xbox release.

Thanks for the cake. smile

You're right - Ego Draconis was a great game which gave me more than my money's worth, so paying a bit extra for the expansion isn't that big a deal.

So I bought DKS earlier today and have now installed it. Looks good.

Thanks again for your help.

UPDATE:

I just noticed that EB Games' Australian online site says that they have already dropped the price of DKS from $68 to $47, which is more in line with the price of some other expansion packs.

That only took two weeks or less, so I guess sales weren't too brisk at the higher price.
