I have recently finished the Divinity 2: Ego draconis (bought from Steam).
I saw an interesting deal (also on Steam) for Dragon Knight Saga promising new content and re-engineered Ego draconis part.
Off course, as I liked Ego draconis very much I immediately bought the Dragon Knight Saga.

Unfortunately I now realize that it is currently impossible to continue Flame of Vengeance part using "old" character. Creating the same character in char editor is probably impossible as going through the Ego draconis there were many opportunities to win extra experience/skill points. So ending characters from Ego draconis would never be the same as the newly created ones from Flame of Vengeance.

So my question(s) would be:
- Is there a plan to make a character transfer to FoV in near future? (I would really like to finish the game with the old character... pretty please)
- Do new characters in FoV start with maximum possible achieved experience/skill points ?

1) No, there is too much diffrence in the Ego Draconis part of the game.

2) They based that starting stuff on the characters people were finishing the game with (they had a thread to post them in, both to get feedback for rebalancing and determining the starting conditions), so it is the 'typical' finish rather than the 'best' finish.

Too bad.

I have started with a new character from start (Ego Draconis part) and so far there is no real difference except in loot (more armor/weapon sets) which is quite a positive thing. I am currently at the beginning (Chat with Lord Lovis).
So, I'll experience the claim "too much difference" in first person.

I still hope for a character migration tool.

With my new character I am currently at the Orobas fjords. I did not see any difference so far between "original" Ego Draconis and this version. (except from the mentioned new loot)

The biggest changes are at the Fjords and Flying Fortresses. The imp-filled road now has goblins, and far fewer than there were imps, and the Flying Fortresses have been completely re-worked. Also, the sets that used to be in the Flying Fortresses (except for Ulthring's) have now been scattered all over, starting with Sentinel Island. (Hope you found the three different pieces there before you got your tower.)

The other changes are that your level makes much less a difference in the damage dealt and taken by enemies of different levels and ranged attacks and spells move slightly slower, enough to reasonably dodge if you pay attention.

When I finished part 1 I spent HOURS farming gold, loot items, getting gear all right- best charms and enhancements.
So that when the expansion was out I could go right for it.

And now this, I feel BETRAYED, the game was fine but I already played it through 3 times and now I have to again? This is BULLSHIT!

I want them to fix it now! If they tell us: you will be able to continue with your old character then we should be able to do so.

Sure the game is fun but try playing it three times (and I mean into depth, I killed everything, did every quest everywhere!) and then hear this...

Fix it please. I refuse to start over! I simply will NOT start over!

You CAN transfer your ED character to FOV. You CAN also transfer your DKS_ED character to DKS_FOV.
You CAN'T transfer your ED or FOV character to DKS_FOV (or DKS_ED). This is because the savegame format is different between the two, so they're simply not compatible.

If you have ED and want to play the expansion you can always get FOV seperately (you can get it from http://www.larianvault.com/). A patch will be released in the near future that turns ED + FOV into DKS.

(ED = Ego Draconis, FOV = Flames Of Vengeance if you're wondering)

Wouldn't that require me to buy the game twice? Since I already have the Saga.

Hi,
I have recently played at ED on Xbox 360. I really enjoyed the game. So, regarding your previous post (I believe it's only concerning Pc user) :

It's only for the PC user ? I haven't found anywhere the expansion. If I could import my character from ED into DKS_FOV I would have bought the game. Any information for Xbox 360 users ?

Thanks,
Louis.

There's no seperate Flames of Vengeance version for the XBOX. You'll need to get the Dragon Knight Saga if you want to play the addon.

Ah, that is probably why I haven't noticed much change as I just started doing Orobas Fjords and haven't touched the fortresses yet. Another good thing to start all over is that I basically knew what lies ahead so I chose battle-mage as a main class, which currently outperforms anything the game throws at me (I rarely even use potions).

First char was warrior and not until later in game I had to be very careful by not getting surrounded, ranged/magic damage was most devastating for me in mid levels. At the end of Ego Draconis I solved this by better level-up distribution and better choices for armor/stuff.

Being unable to dodge arrows before was also a bit annoying as they stung fiercely smile
The only thing that would probably drive me to go again through everything as a warrior are the new armor/weapons sets. But, I would still like that some kind of a solution is found for the old chars (at least just take the end stats and port it to a new character)
