Hi all,

Sorry to drag out an old topic, but I have tried everything and am at a loss. I have DKS and I still get really jittery, micro-stutter filled graphics. It's not slowdown, it's not the settings (as I have tried them at various settings). It is hard to describe, but it's a very small micro stutter between frames, like the game is stumbling over itself. It is most obvious when panning the camera up so you are looking down on the character. As the terrain beneath passes by, the stuttering is really obvious.

It's the same issue that other Gamebryo engine games have (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas). With both Fallouts, there is a community fix for the stuttering. Essentially, from what I gather, the graphics engine is running at 61 Hz and most people's monitors run at a 60 Hz refresh rate. Not talking about FPS, but the refresh rate of the monitor. The fix clamped the refresh rate back to 60 Hz so the jittering/jumping stopped. Check it out for more information on the specifics.

I know with the original Divinity 2 ¥, which I also own, people had fixes like setting the priority to high, using compatibility modes, etc. but none of these fixes work for me. I have new drivers, I have the newest Direct X, but nothing works. I really can't play it with the stuttering, it's just awful - but I love the game itself, and really want to keep playing!

Is there anything I can do? I really don't want to stop playing, but it makes me physically ill to play the game, especially comparing it to the silky smooth Two Worlds II.

Devs, I've been watching the forum and you've been great at talking with customers. Please help me out and help me understand why I am still suffering from stuttering when nobody else seems to.
System specs:
Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 GHz
Nvidia GTX 260
4GB RAM
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Direct X 10

Thanks!

in the Nvidia control panel, try putting the global settings to default. (Press Restore) That worked for me. I have a similar system as you, except I have the Athlon 2 4-core 3.0ghz, and 8 gigs or ram.

Same for me - after all this time... really sad...
has nothing to do with drivers - it's just the shitty engine!

I had the micro stuttering on 3 different machines - even factory new ones!
I doubt we'll ever see a fix for this...

Sorry your having problems. I can play the game just fine so it's not the game. Maybe it's my Video card but other than that we have almost the same system. Try lowering your settings and see if that helps. There is a new patch and you can get rid of the FPS cap in the .cfg file. I changed mine to 50FPS cap with High settings @ 1920x1200 and the game plays fine for me.

Never had an issue with Fall out either so maybe it just does not like some system set ups?

Did you enable the Timeslice Shadows Update option? That did a lot for me and others.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I have Timeslice Shadows turned on. I have tried playing with it on and off.

I haven't tried hitting Restore on my Nvidia global settings, but I am hesitant to since I have them set to a specific way. But maybe I will try that.

Have you tried changing LockStepMode to 1, in the config.xml file, after downloading the hotfix? This keeps the framerate of all cores equal. It smoothed the game out for me, runs great now. On Xp I had to run my Internet browser in the background also or it would stutter, anyone know why?

No dice for me yet. I have a downloaded copy of the game and the hotfix has issues installing. I am wondering if I will have better luck with the retail disc, which I bought from GoGamer a couple days ago.

Not worried about buying it twice - I'll give a copy to a friend, and I am happy to support the devs.

Update: well, the disc version with the hotfix worked! I'm getting MUCH smoother graphics now.

Thanks gogamer.com and Larian. smile
