Im inside the battle tower at the battle tower interior and I have 4/5 mind reading and apparently, according to a guide I have to mind read the goblin librarian to find the book with the demons name in it. There is one problem however. It says mind reading is a passive skill and the option to mind read him does not come up in conversation. I don't know what to do can someone please help?

Have you already mindread him? If you've already done it, the option disappears. When you mindread him he talks about how he wants to read a certain book, can't remember the name. But one of the bookshelves in the room is interactive, and if you use it it asks you what book you want to read. The book he was thinking is the last option if you have mindread him. If you haven't, then you won't even have the option to choose the book. If successful, a false wall next to the bookshelf will disappear and reveal a secret room.

just tried it and there was no new book and i tried the last one and nothing happened

I'm not sure if the option to mindread him comes after you ask him to write down the name of the demon. I think you have to talk tohim a 2nd time to get the option to Mindread him to appear

Oh that might be true, maybe he needs to refuse to write it down before you can mindread him.

ive tried that before as well nothing. still no sixth book

Have you tried reading all the books on the shelf b4 mindreading him because I always interact with the bookshelf first

it wouldnt give me the option to mind read the under taker either

hold on have you been to the floor just above Erlkin you'll fight an undead up there, you'll need to light the candles on each side of the room to make the center wall reveale a room with a cheast. I think theres a key up there for the cheast that contains the name I think you might have to get that first b4 mindreading Erlkin.

Hmmm, well the amount of points you have in mindreading don't matter. I've never put any points into mindreading (I see it as a waste, I just used a guide to figure out who is worth mindreading and mindread those people).

I know I didn't read the bookshelf first, I just walked up to the dude and did asked him to write it down, though I kind of knew I'd have to mindread him. It makes sense since the goblin can't speak.

Anyway, I didn't have any problems doing that. It seems peculiar that you cannot do the mindread. Do you mindread a lot?

Does anybody know if there's a maximum xp debt you can accumulate from mindreading? Kind of a longshot but if there is one, maybe you've hit it?

i dont have an xp debt and ive been everywhere in interior and I only leveled my mind reading because I thought it had to be a certain level to mind read him but now that i have read up on it i realise mindreading is wasteful but I dont know why my mind reading things havent been coming up i also remember not seeing it pop up when i spoke to the island lady

I'm pretty sure that the key for the chest is dropped by a Master Abomination monster on the floor above. I didn't have it when I just recently played through, because I remember revealing the chest and not being able to open it. I had to go ride to the floor above to get the key first.

The chest with the name is in Erlkin's study behind a false wall that's revealed by choosing the right book from mindreading him.

ugh i think my games messed up or something

I'm not sure. I did accumulate an XP debt of over 275,000 in Flames of Vengeance, though, so any cap is pretty big.

Sorry Sarrow, I think your game is messed up as well.

if i remember right when i did this:

did the first option, ask him if he would write down the demons name if i ask him. he gave a look/groan saying no.

mindread him, he thinking that he wants to read (last option on book case) certain thing tonite.

went to book case and choose that, heard click and wall goes away.

there a chest with demons name in it(cant open yet)

go next floor up and explore and beat up mob there(key drops off mob or located in area were you first walk into area:center area that separates both sides, cant remember which)

go back down stairs and open chest(read note/book) yay demons name.

oh i think the slave at basement level tells me about non speaking guy first(after i helped him). dont know if that needed to enable the mindreading for nonspeaking guy.
