Hey

Just finished the game on Hard as Dex oriented Ranger, and first off let's say that I Quite enjoyed it.

Thinking about playing it again but I was wondering if any of the other classes are a bit more.. challenging combat wise. As dex ranger the first part(till lvl 10-15 somewhere I think) of the game was weirdly difficult but once you get a good bow+enchants/skills it really gets too easy to own the shit out of the enemies you come across.

At some point of the game I was just obliterating enemies with high ranked Explosive shots/splitting arrows and in the expansion with splitting arrows/normal shots ESPECIALLY with high ranked way of the ranger.. I'm talking crits up to 8-11k dmg per arrow.. with a crit chance of 81% and health/mana regenerating so fast that unless I'm in a long stun lock(which as good as never happened as ranger due to staying ranged) while multiple enemies hit me there was no chance of me getting low on health at all and if I did the million potions that are easily obtainable(and rarely used) keep me up no problem. Also didn't use my creature on purpose to make it a bit harder. Only real damage that was unavoidable by good rolling and jumping were other rangers that used explosive arrow+poison arrow

Finished the game with(this includes armor bonus/charms/enchants):

70 Vitality
71 Spirit
55 Strength
100 Dexterity
50 Intelligence

957 HP 957 MP

57,61% Melee Resistance
65,18% Ranged Resistance
56,06% Magic Resistance

Conditioned body 55%
Heightened reflexes 75%
Indomitable will 61%

The Invisible Death bow enchanted with lvl 10 butcher(11% crit)lvl 10 increased normal damage and lvl 10 increased magic damage(+100 to both) combined the high lvl vendor items from the town + found jewelry focused on crit+regeneration resulting in a sick 81% chance to crit.

Skills(which the expansion threw books at for you like crazy):

15/15 Ranger surprise
15/15 Ranger strength
3/5 Stun arrow(from an item, never used)
5/5 Ranger stealth
3/5 Potion efficiency(from an item)
15/15 Splitting arrow
1/5 Evade(just for the original 10% boost)
15/15 Explosive arrow
5/5 Reflect(from an item)
15/15 Way of the ranger
15/15 Death blow
4/5 Regenerate(from an item)
9/10 Mana efficiency(after I got this i felt like I wasted a lot of points in Intelligence/Spirit and enchants/charms focused on similar goals because it keeps my mana at 100% full time)
5/5 Wisdom (from an item)
4/5 Mind read (3 from an item)

And still 5 skill points left.

Anyway with that setup I was unstoppable by anything the game threw at me.. Opening with explosive arrow followed by splitting arrow while way of the ranger was on and everything would be dead in that pack of enemies(till the last bit where they required 2 maybe 3 splitting arrows). And bosses would easily die by a point blank splitting arrow as all the arrows would hit them.

So yea after all that my question is: are other classes harder to play?

The other main classes do play a bit differently. Strength-based warriors have to get up close into a fight to kill things, but it can be hard to run away when the damage starts piling up. Their only AoE attack is Whirlwind.

Int-based mages killing power is based on cooldowns and keeping far away, they're in trouble if they get close enough to enemies for them to use Rush Attack. They have spammable Magic Missiles, and their AoE attacks are Fireball (long range) and Firewall (melee range), which have much longer cooldowns than explosive arrow, so they play differently.

And those are just the "standard" builds. You can also try strange ones like "Warrior/Wizard", or "All Priest skills" or "Unarmed only" if you found ranger too easy. You could even try playing a ranger, using Fireball and not Explosive Arrow, and that would probably give you a different experience as well

I'm playing mainly a warrior, but I have a few points in some mage skills for AE attacks like Fire Wall. I have found that for massed groups of NPC's, warrior is really challenging, and add a few ranged enemies to the mix, you are going down fast. I find, for example, in the fortresses, I need to have a ranger pet, and whip out my bow, even though I have exactly zero skills in the ranger tree. Otherwise, I just get overwhelmed.
