I'm wondering if I have to join the thieves guild to find Zandalor. I want to get this quest moving along because I WANT MY TELEPORTER STONES BACK!!!

I guess maybe I shouldnt be too stingy about using a point on pickpocket, but Its not like my character to join a thieves guild either. I'm wondering if there are any alternatives.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think so, u could just go to were Rob tells u to go, but joining the thieves guild is neccesary for other quests, such as the bet, freeing penumra, the holy weapon quest, and others.

Ok, help me out here, I've only had the game for a week.

Does joining a guild mean you can't join another guild later?

I don't remember Rob telling me where to go, he just asks me to first pickpocket the guy. Maybe I should check my archived conversations. hm.

You can join all guilds. Only archer guild and assassin guild cant be joined. No matter what.

I didn't take the second quest by the Thieves Guild in one of my savegames. So the door at the lower level was never unlocked, and so I couldn't collect the items that Corinna wanted. So I missed the summoning quest, and one of the holy items ( or what is that thing in that book? )...

my advise -> join, and do those two quests.

Yes, joining the thieves' guild is required if you want the Holy artifact. The dagger in the book is one of the three items for the quest, and for that matter the book itself is great (I always pick it up for stashing miscellaneous stuff). But that's not part of the main plotline, so it's not required for finishing the game.

((SPOILERS))

I love the sacrificial theme in this game. "Three must come together before two are sacrificed. At the loss... you will win the holy power." It's really a parallel for the main story wherein the other two Marked Ones die, and the one remaining becomes the Divine One.

The thing that annoys me most is the fact I have to put a point into locksmithing, even though my character does fly that way.

Unless someone can tell me otherwise.

If You can find items with lock pick skill, you dont have to put any point in it

It's useful to join the Thieves Guild, but you can complete the game without doing so.

You miss out on a couple of optional side quests (As noted by others already ) but you will miss nothing that is essential.

Not at all, you can choose skills from all the classes...
Just find the suvivor skill pickpocket, and use a skill piont to learn it.

You can still put skill points into pickpocket and Lockpick (2nd test). Also, you can find or buy equipment with a bonus to these skills, if you don't want to use any skill points for them.
Try quick saving the game before talking to (or running your mouse over) a merchant, or hitting alt, then trade and quick load if you do not find what you are looking for.
Kistandalius in Ars Magicana, or maybe Corinna in Verdistis, would be good to look for rings/amulets with skill bonuses, but it might take awhile looking for something specific.
