In all RPG's I love playing the "tank" character. I was hoping on starting a thread on a tank viable character for Divinity II DKS. I have a build in mind that goes something like this. I am hoping that veterans of the game could help me out on this.
Class: Warrior
Base Stats without Gear:
Vit - 50 Spi - 10 Str - 50 Dex - 20 Int - 10
Skills:
Lockpick - 5 Sword and Shield - 5 Regenerate - 5 Whirlwind - 5 Defensive Posture - 5 Reflect - 5 Bleed - 5
:Note these skills are just base points without any extra skill points being acquired. This is assuming getting to Level 35.
How does this build look, and would it be viable for endgame?? Please feel free to tweak my idea of a "tank" character.

Its hard to define a build just base on stats/ skill points gain through level up, as you will gain some extra points through out the game by mind read, skill books and stat books. Since you assuming max level is 35, you should still be in ED.
How to distribute your stats points basically base on equipments and charms you use. From my experience in the original ED, you can have all 3 stats, str, dex and int close to 90+ to 100 range if you know how to select your equipments and charms. As for vit and spi, basically is all personal preference. If you feel that your hp or mp is enough to sustain you through out the fight, then you wont need to add anymore. Besides you can easily find accessories which provide you with extra hp and mp, where you wont need to spend so much point on these 2 stats. I recently restart again in the DKS ED and currently around lvl24, and has close to 70 points of unused stats points, still I can progress without much trouble in hard mode.
As for skill wise, your skill wont be max at just lvl5, as you skill trainer will extend the cap beyond lvl5. Reflect and defensive posture is basically waste of points. If you dont know bout it, all resistances max out at 75% if I remember correctly. And with high str and resistance enchantments from you armors and shield, you basically wont need defensive posture at all. A high level battle rage will prove to be more useful for you as you are low in damage with sword and shield build. Instead of using reflect, life leech will be a better choice to always maximize your hp bar. Thousand strike is a good skill for boss. I still remember I can kill the last boss divine in the ED with 1 cast of thousand strike with my dual wield warrior.

Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it. Although I am aware of the skills progressing past level 5, I just wanted to get a foundation build of how to go about my tank. I just want to absorb as much damage as I get thrown and survive it without hardly a scratch or two. So it seems the resistance % that you gain through str, dex, and int stat points for outweighs the defensive posture skill, is this correct?

You can interpret as that for the end game, as basically there not many which can deal heavy damage to you, especially when majority of your armor parts contain 2 enchantment slots. You can easily get lvl9 enchantment recipe which grant you +10 resistance once you reach orobas fjords. I playing as a ranger for the moment on my new character and can survive easily so far with 300+hp and 30%+ resistance for all 3 resistance value, without relying on potions. Basically still crunching some looted food only.
Dont spend your stats points too early, as unlike to skill points, it cant be reset.

Awesome, thx again for your input. Good to know I can save up stat points throughout the game without too much worry of making my character weak. This will help me tweak my character more toward the end-game. Now if only Steam will release the patch so I can start anew with the new changes.

As a melee only character life leech is your most important skill to max, at low levels it's not that much of a help but later in game it becomes extremely powerful. I would put 75%of my points into vitality and rest in strength at low levels, if you want to feel powerful and have an easy game.
I finished the game at level 45 with 115 skill points, there are a ton of skill books to get, especially in the flames of vengeance part of game and if you mind read a lot. My end game stats were 100 Vitality 45 Spirit 100 Strength 25 Dexterity 25 Inteligence
I played a pure melee with no magic or ranged skill's apart from skills i got from gear.
The game is very easy if you make a good build, and don't try to be a jack of all trades, focus on maxing one skill at a time. As a warrior whirlwind, life leech and weapon skill are the one to foucs on at low levels, One point is rush attack the first to get though, but more then one point is not really worth it.
Reflect and bleed are skills best buildt when you have nothing else to spend points in. Defensive posture is a skill i never used, never saw the point of gimping damage. Damage is how you heal yourself.
The game was very easy playign a pure fighter though, so if you want a challenge you probably should gimp yourself a bit lol.
