Greets all! Well as most of us have discovered the pure mages and mage/warrior hybrids are well....easy as heck lol. Done those and a archer/mage hybrid as well so its time for something different. I'm making a priest this time around. Obviously you can't really/easily mAke a full priest class but will take some skills from other trees. I guess it will be more a priest in my head and in looks really lol. What skills do you think should be allowed? I have to use a sword n board(shield and sword skill) and only the heavier plate looking armor. No archer skills I'm thinking or maybe just evade. No mage spells either. Just mana leech and mana efficiency.

Maybe the lower tier melee skills like rush and whirlwind. Summon demon is not much for priestike but its in the tree lol. Curse maybe? Heal of course, but if I remember correctly its really only good for the first half of the game. What do you all think should be allowable skills? Thanks all!

It's your build, you make your own rules.

But I'm going to make a Priest character after I finish my ranger, so I'll say what I'll do.

Priests and clerics traditionally use maces, so use a mace (shield optional) not a sword.

If you're going to be a warrior, you could have a point into Rush Attack. I wouldn't use Whirlwind, though.

I would also allow Polymorph, because a lot of Priest skills are single-target debuffs, and so is Polymorph, so it would fit right in. I might allow a single point into Fireball if you choose that as your Farglow skill.

Points into Healing would fit a Priest character just fine. Healing is good for all points of the game, but around level 26-30, you'll want 2 or 3 points into it.

I did a test with a normal character who was at the end of FoV, and I was able to max out EVERY SINGLE Priest skill, plus Lockpick, and still have points left over for other skills, so you can technically afford to take all the priest skills, although a lot are not worth maxing out so you can save more points.

Hey stabbey, most of that was my thoughts as well. I'm definitely going mace and shield. Do you know if maxos mace is the best available in ED? Lots available in FoV of course. Do you know of any special shields other than The Wall and arbens shield? The wall is the best I remember in ED but its only lvl 20 or so. Anything better?

As far as skills go I might drop demon for ghost IF ghost heals you based on your hp% and not just when you get below 100-150 or so. Obviously ghost would be darn well useless once you hit 1-1.5K HP at mthe end game unless he heals based on a HP%.

No whirlwind and on point in rush? Are you just killing with normal hits? I love whirlwind lol but yes, its not very priestly. I could use those points elsewhere, maybe curse. Never used curse before. Heard it does not work on bosses though frown Will be even harder to fully drop rush. That was my main boss killer in FoV, was critting for 20-25K on my dual wield mage hybrid. To much lol, but a fun skill imo smile Wish there was a harm type spell or DoT in the priest line!

Bit of an update. Priest guy is level 30 now and well...he sucks LOL. Extremely easy to get swamped and die. Hit and run tactics work but don't feel very heroic after doing it a hundred times Hah. Heal spell is inefficient and pretty terrible compared to a heal pot. You'd think with all those points spent and the cast time/animation it should be far better than a pot. Curse is OK at best. Does not work on any form or boss which is silly and outside it obviously rarely hits more than 1-3 mobs.

Fear is not great either. At least compared to most of the combat skills. Anyhow, yeah. Game is a LOT harder playing a Gimp wink

Heal spell is known for its ineffectiveness where compare to high rank potions, as you can calculate the amount of hp healed as compare the hp healed by potions with potion efficiency max.
