I am as new as you can get. Bought the game and downloaded yesterday early morning and registered on this forum just because of the Steam Patch issu.

I have already posted in Technical Support section, I am just curious if this happened to anyone else.

I updated the recent patch from Steam today (12/7/10) and instead of it fixing the black screen, it caused it for me. All day yesterday I played will no noticable bugs or black screen. But now I have one everytime I try to play the game.

I can move and still hear and I have the HUD (compan, exp bar, etc.) but everything else I am blind. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have the steam version, patched yesterday, no black screen issue here, not earlier and not now.

To anybody reading this thread that has the issue:

In the graphics options, uncheck 'User Interface In Desktop-Resolution', see if that helps.

If during the game you have a very short resolution list: the game only lists resolutions that match your current refresh rate. For example, if you have a resolution at 30Hz (for a TV p.ex.), it will only display resolutions that can be displayed with that refresh rate. You can change the refresh rate, and then you should see other available resolutions.

I had the same problem and I posted Black Screen Fix how I fixed it.

It involves using old drivers for nvidia users. I haven't seen any official response to my post yet but hopefully they have read it and see that the problem has to do with how the renderer and UI scale.

If you are using pre-200+ nvidia drivers set the scaling in control panel to Nvidia Scaling and then uncheck Use Interface In Desktop Resolution.
