support got me fixed up

they pretty much offered the same solution as you, or to simply get into the hall with my character and save it, then send me back the save. I chose the send me the save option, haven't tried it yet as I'm not at home, but I'm sure it's working great

Very quick response time on their part, they did it today, and as I'm sure this is the first day they were open as it occurred over the weekend, that was insanely fast. Great support Larian

Apparently it's an issue of textures not updating from my old save with the new patch, so it's never showing the rocks being gone in case you were curious. Visually it's accurate but the backend/programming side apparently didn't update correctly.
