Larian Studios Forums Divinity II The Dragon Knight Saga / Flames of Vengeance (English) Technical problems Help With Uninstall DII so DKS can be installed

I have played & installed Divinity II Ego Draconis on my computer. I got DKS as a gift and want to install the new program. I understand the Orig DII and DK Saga are not compatible.

I have Win7 Home Premium and the game is installed on my second hard drive, designated as "H". I never ever install games on my "C" drive if I can help it, and this one installed and ran just fine with this setup.

I right clicked on the Ego Draconis folder in "All Programs" , clicked on uninstall and I got a pop-up window that told me "Unins000.exe has been changed or moved". Well I am not smart enough to do such a thing, you know. "Unins000.dat" is located on my "H" drive. I tried running uninstall as administrator but knew because of the nature of the message that this wouldn't work

I looked in Control Panel, the game doesn't appear there. I looked in my uninstaller and it's not there either.

I fell kinda dumb but perhaps someone can give me a hand getting the original out of my PC so I can play the new one.

You should be able to install and play DKS, regardless of whether or not ED is installed. As far as removing ED is concerned, I'm not 100% sure what went wrong there so I'll have to check.

Registry entry should be here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\CDCE6956-DD16-4F82-ACA0-E4C7BAD6B26A_is1

You always can delete it and the entry will disappear in Uninstall Tool. As for leftovers, they are here:
-> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Larian Studios
-> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Larian Studios

Also, there could be sumtin from DTP, look for "dtp" or "dtpEntertainment" in those sections. That's all for the registry.

All old savegames/user options is in: c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Divinity 2\

Interestingly, none of the above entries appear in my registry, except for DTP entries that appear for both D2ED & Drakensang. I have several entries that are lengthy as the first one you show, but they are not even close to what you have. There are no entries for Larian that I could find. My saved games are not located where yours are, Mine are in an %appdata% roaming local folder. That's where win7 keeps them. Thanks for trying to help tho.

Just open the uninst.dat (any text editor) then and looks for the path. There are many of them.

I did what you suggested...I could not make sense of what I got when I opened the .dat file and was reluctant to muck up the works by messing with something I know zip about. You're right, there were many "paths".

However, after hours of searching around the 'net to find a solution, I performed inelegant one... used Revo Uninstaller to remove references of the game from the registry, deleted the games folder and saved games and installed DKS with not a peep from my PC or the game. I am happily playing DKS.
