Well, here's my suggestion.
Add a two-people hotseat mode to Riftrunner. I think the story with the two characters is virtually begging for it. A Network mode would be much work, but a hotseat mode could be managable.
Restrict the area the two characters can move in to screen size (no splitscreen), and leave the rest untouched. Possibly some of the quests would need editing (e.g. if the two characters do something simultaneously, but aren't supposed to), but other than that, I see no problems.
If changing the quests for hotseat mode is too much work, then allow a hotseat exclusive in the random dungeons (hack'n'slash only, a la gauntlet). A story mode would be better, but seeing that almost no game has hotseat nowadays, I would be happy to see anything at all.
One would need to have two mice to play, but if a friend comes along to play, he can bring his mouse, so no problem.

try plugging both PS/2 & serial mouse (or mice) o your system & see if u have 2 cursors instead of one.

i.e., can't happen. both mice will wrestle for the control of one cursor. if larian can isolate the unified control of the cursor & make each control a separate cursor, then my friend, larian is way way way better than microsoft.

another 2 cents.

That's no problem with DirectX, even I could do it, I think. Just because Windows doesn't do it, doesn't mean it's impossible.
Have you played Serious Sam? It works there. It even works in Settlers 1 & 2, and those are dos games.

Yeah, I wanted to mention Settlers aswell, but flash beat me to it... Anyway, it was a strategy game, and you could have a split screen mode, but you needed two mice. Too bad for me I never had 2 PS/2 ports for 2 mice...

Lemmings on Commodore Amiga has a two player mode with two mice. You could only control your lemmings, but had to get the most through your exit.

The world needs more two-mice games.

Anyone who says hotseat gaming isn't fun has never tried it. It's the most fun way of gaming there is.
Much better than sitting alone in front of your PC, if you have a friend to hit, if something goes wrong.

May I ask how old you are?

Lemmings is a DMA Design game published by Psygnosis. In my humble opinion, the first Lemmings is one of the most intriguing and exciting games ever. The sequels are good, too, but they are getting too complicated with time... and the hotseat mode was not really great but quite fun.

Oh yeah... I think I am gonna play Lemmings now.

DJEEEZ, hotseat mode... I buried that idea when I sold my VideoPac 20 years ago. Please Larian, forgive them, they do not know what they are saying.
