why cheat? why does someone have to cheat his/her way out of the game?

sure, one can say it's only single player and it's not harming anyone else. sure you can do anything you want with the game; it's your money and your time, anyway. but still, i ask, why cheat your way out of the game? to finish the game and kill the demon of lies (???) at a lofty char level of 20? if you call that an accomplishment, i'm not impressed.

why does someone have to cheat when the game gives a lot of tools at the player's disposal to help him/her? if a player finds an area too difficult, go to other areas. if a player finds a monster too hot to handle, set the difficulty level to easy. shop for better weapons, do a lot of quests, steal a lot, kill everyone (be prepared for the consequences, though). there are a lot of things one can do to improve the char without resorting to cheating. besides, cheating does not speak well of someone's attitude towards life. and it tarnishes the beauty of this game.

so go ahead, cheat. if that makes someone feel good, feel free. i don't think you'd feel better though when you finish the game and look back, "hey i just cheated my way out of there!"

The question of right and wrong is a hotly debated topic. Some may say something is intrinsically wrong and others say that a thing is wrong only beacuse you say it is wrong. On the matter of cheating by yourself, I guess some might say that they felt the game would have been too hard if they didn't cheat so cheating was a way to make it easier. On the other hand, I see your points about cheating having the chance to ruin the game and I agree that it can sometimes do that...It's kind of similar to reading suspense novels I guess...Some people feel they have to look at the ending because the suspense is just too great for them and some people love the enjoyment of being in suspense...I say to each their own....

I agree. As long as it doesn't disrupt others, let them play as they please.

As fun, interesting, and challenging as these types of games are (DD, FF7 on the PSX, etc), it's just far too much information to absorb to risk the chance of royally screwing up your savegame. Having to work through all that challenge 24/7 quickly makes the game very unfun to me because I tend to go too far too fast or I'm stuck in an area I outgrew 10 levels ago. Having a walkthrough or a few cheats to employ allows me to nudge the gameplay forward from time to time when I don't want to keep racking my brain for a solution.

[color:"#00cccc"]Aye Laddie! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> i totally agree!

Walkthroughs are great, and without em, well...
the way i look at it is if you didn't have one,
you'd be sometimes goin crazy, trying to figure out the problm....been there!
more than once, I figured out one once.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />..it actually came to me in a friggen dream! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
So walkthroughs for me are...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> ......... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

yes, I've gotten the many internet walkthroughs, I got like 3 fer Divine <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />. without them I just get all stumpted, tho lots of the time its fun to do without any help. but once u get stuck, then get a walkthrough or a stratagey guide, more an dmore of which are walkthroughs.

Personally I think cheating is only ok if you have already beaten the game. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> < Is this guy flippin' me off?!?!?!

I think that's the "you've been naughty" finger. And buggered if I can find a way to express that inuendo-free.
