First, Thank you Larian! You are, by far, my favorite gaming company. Love the story, wit, characters, and the graphics are still looking pretty nice.

Second, which is just a quick "first impressions" after a few minutes of playing last night.

1) I think this is going to be a fun game, and I'm looking forward to playing it.

2) I am frustrated that it wouldn't let me import my rockin' hot characters from Ego Draconis (it says "outdated save" for the slot and won't let me highlight/load it.

3) There are some more... fluid moves to the female character than what I remember in the 1.03 patch of Ego Draconis, which are sheer pleasure to watch --art appreciation.

4) It seems there is a movement 'glitch' (if it can be called that) similar to what Gothic 3 had (same engine?), and I don't recall if it was in the 1.03 patch of ED-- when trying to get on what appears a 'higher' level (jumping onto a stack, etc), the character sort of 'falls' or slides and catches self by going into an almost squat potion.

5) Love there's improved fight moves! Maybe it's just because right now my character only has fists and no weapons, but I noticed some elbow jabs when 'fighting'/breaking barrels and boxes. Sweet!

6) I love that I'm not starting out at level one, and that I have a ton of skill points to use the way I see fit when beginning the game (especially since I had a build previously that I really liked-- now if I only could remember how I built it and what awesome armor/jewels/weapons I had!

7) Perhaps my favorite (aside from #4), is that now when using the dragon stone, the character is in "fight ready" mode, which is a huge improvement from the previous 1.03 EG! You heard us say "we need to be ready to fight when we transport!" and listened! Thank you!

That is all from just a couple of impressions after playing for about 10-20 minutes, mostly chatting with people, knocking the loot out of barrels and whatnot, checking out my battle tower (which sadly, didn't have any weapons in the coffer, but at least there were formulas in there!).

I'll add more as I have more time to play, but I wanted to give a quick thumbs up to the improvements I have seen w/ FoV.

Has anyone else had problems importing a 1.03 Ego Draconis character to FoV? Is it because the previous EG saves are from the DVD-ROM version, and I have since downloaded the Dragon Knight Saga (so I can give hubby the EG disc)? Is there a way for me to import the character using backup saves from my thumb drive? If so, where do I put it? Any help would be most welcome, as there are a couple of previously played-to-the-final-battle of EG that I really wanted to start FoV with!

Thanks Larian! smile You rock!

4) happens to me too.
5) one handed / melee fighting moves are pretty sweet. Too bad unarmed blows..

People say I'm crazy..but the voices in my head say I'm just fine.

Did you try and import a character from an actual copy of ego draconis to a "dragon night saga" version of the divinity 2 series or straight to a "Flames of vengeance" add-on? I don't know if it would make a difference but it may be possible the developers assumed a player wouldn't buy the combo pack if they had the original and therefore made the save games from the stand-alone versions incompatible with the "Dragon Knight Saga" version.

Synel,

Thanks for your input. I got my questioned answered by making a direct question thread. If you'd like to read what came about, click below. The thread also contains a link to another thread that discusses the "why" of games being incompatible.
