Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Skill levels above 5?

My mage already has 5 levels of meteorstrike. Since then, I have found 2 items that give +1 to meteorstrike. Does a character gain any skill benefit from wearing an item that gives it additional levels in a skill that is already maxed at 5 levels?

5 is the maximum of any skill you can get to. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Sucks huh when you find the free ones...

Even worse when they're permenant boosts from completing a quest. I got the Identify skill from Ars Magicana after already learning level 5 Identify.

yes, I have pickpocket 5 and 2 level 1 pickpocket boosters.
