I recently went out and bought the xbox 360 version of DKS, (as well as getting another copy of it for my nephew at Christmas.) Anyway, I wanted to compare the two versions, by downloading and playing the PC demo, but I am worried that the PC demo might have SecuROM hidden in it.

Could one of the developers inform me of the situation with this please? Is SecuROM, or is it not, embedded in the PC demo?

Anyone who has read my previous posts, will know why I refuse to let SecuROM anywhere near my PC.

There shouldn't be any DRM on a demo as it is meant to be freely distributed.

If you buy the game from the Larian Vault there is no SecuROM on it either.

You'd think a demo would be free of DRM, but I have seen it (reportedly to prevent the possibility of an exploit being found that could allow someone to use the demo to play the full game). I installed the demo for Psychonauts, but got busy and didn't get to try it for awhile, then forgot about it. About 32 days later I remembered it, only to find there was a 30 day limit on the demo; if I didn't have access to another system to try the demo on I never would have bought a couple copies of the game (one for a gift).

Mafia2 demo has DRM too.
Div2 games from Larian stock has the DRM, that's why there is a "cd-key" for them (secucrap too).

If Larian's downloaded version from the Larian Vault contains no SecuRom protection, why would their demo contain it?

The SecuRom software will be in the EULA. You know, that thing that has 50 lawyer riddled paragraphs that we click "yes I've read the end user license agreement" even though we didn't.

As far as I was aware, the Larian vault version does have SecuCRAP, lots of PC demos have SecuCRAP in them and EULAs never mention SecuCRAP, even if the game has it!

So...wrong on all counts, but nice try!
