Keep trying the Guild Master Quest but Williams always gets killed and the quest fails. Any way to defeat Blackrings and keep Williams alive?

There is, but it's tricky. It's probably one of those quests that's best done at a very high level; I've also heard tell of the number of Black Ring you have to defeat being variable, though I'm not clear about whether this is completely random or level dependent. That said, there's always been five or six of them (not including the two on the bottom floor) when I've encountered this particular quest.

I have got the two at the bottom entrance, I am level 32 but William keeps running down the stairs and getting killed. Not that important of a quest but would like to get some more experience before the Hall of Echos.

Do you mean you've already dealt with them or that Williams keeps running into them? If the latter, I'd recommend starting again and deal with them yourself before talking to Williams.

I did have problems trying to keep all three alive (no particular reason, I just wanted to) as the half dozen extra Black Ring tended to overwhelm them, but several attempts as well as getting my pet gristle (er, whatever the necromancer's creation is called) involved eventually did the trick. If you have any summoning skills they may also be worth a look.

Reducing the difficulty for the duration may also help, though I personally already had it on minimum because I'm hopeless at combat!

I believe you defin have to take out the first to guys they are like lvl 27 after that go up stairs but summon your pets and make sure they stay behind you when talking to williams after you finish mindread /talking to him run down stairs and take out other black ring guys this is kinda of a lvl dependent or build dependent I wanna say i was well in my 30's when i went back to finish this quest so your results will differ depending would suggest having a aoe damage ability(firball /exploding arrows etc) at hand since u can use this to hit enemies while your pet block the path way to you and also your pets will block williams crew from getting past you

I failed too in this quest...twice...the first time with the mage (level 30), yesterday with a warrior, level 32...i tried to complete it, but it's impossible, too much Black Ring Soldiers, and the Guild Master died soon after -.-"
