Spoilers are anything about the game people may not know yet, especially concerning the plot. You can refer to things vaguely, or enclose details in a spoiler tag (see link below) if you are not sure about something. A tip like your creature is more effective as ranger or mage than a warrior, or the merchant in High Halls starts carrying better equipment when you get to a high character level are not spoilers, and can be mentioned wherever appropriate.
Everybody - be carefull with spoilers - Please! If someone is specifically asking about a quest, usually you can just answer. Sometimes you might want to just give a hint (the next step in whatever they need to do, with possibly more detail in a spoiler) or general directions. If you want to mention something not directly pertinent to a question, it is best to err on the side of caution. For example, if someone is in Maxos Temple, it is fine to say at the end of that they will get access to Sentinel Island, and can mindread in their first encounter to go up a level, so it would be best to get to a new level (ie in the fjords) before entering. If you want to warn about a plot point, though, it is best to be vague. Telling people to make sure they finish off everything they can do in Broken valley and on Sentinel Island before taking over the battle tower is ok (there is a warning in-game just before that point), but you'd have to be an idiot to just blurt out the reason.
