What do I need for high textures (also, maxing the game)?

Is it a <1gb video card, or system RAM?

Don't know what is the "perfect spot" for this game, but with a Core i5 @4Ghz, 4GB RAM and a Geforce GTX 480 stock, I can set everything on max quality at my monitors default resolution (1920x1080) and the game keeps at 50~60fps (Vsync on).

Mostly, both factors. But you don't need >1GB VRAM, I have ancient GTX260 (~800VRAM) and 4GB RAM. Works pretty nice here.
