Hi.

After getting the game, I have to say it truly is awesome... Today I started rampaging in the Orobar's Fjords (haven't gotten to Aleroth yet, I want to do everything important here)... And after like 8 hours of play, I'm still there. I have to say there's plenty of those Fortresses, but... goddamnit, they are starting to get boring! Why are they so... big?

How much of the Ego Draconis part have I approximately done? I'm like level 30 now. Good game, even if the ammount of spells is a bit dissapointing (and why are they all fire-related? How about some lightning? Or something frosty!)

Any way to make recharging spells faster? Right now I have very high level of fireball (oneshots basically everything) and of firewall. Their power is great, but their recharge is... awful, especially since my Knight isn't very effective in melee/ranged. In fact, he sucks at them (he has what, 3 points of strenght and 7 of agility?)

Any way to change the language of the subtitles? In polish version it's just... horrible. Half of the items are named "DO NOT TRANSLATE" (maybe exaggerating, but it's still done in an awful way and DO NOT TRANSLATE item is very common) and sometimes when I compare what I hear and what I read, I become confused. It kills my boner willingness to play. I'd love to change them to english. Any way to do so? I'll gladly do (almost) anything.

I finished D2:ED at level 36; without using the couple respawn points I think the highest I saw was level 37. In DKS with the changes in balance leveling was at least faster in the beginning, but I don't know if there was much of a difference later in the game.
Depending on whether you've been back to Broken Valley, I'd guess you are roughly 75-85% through the D2:ED section. Aleroth is fairly small (at least what you can get to before entering the Hall of Echoes), though there are a couple good traders there.

You can reduce mana costs, but not the recharge time. If you learn Magic Missile or Magic Blast you can alternate with Fireball.

There is no official way to change languages. I don't know if there is an unofficial way (you could change the German release to English text, but in that case both languages were included in the game).

It's a know issue and should be fixed in upcoming patch.

75%-85%? So, how the hell did they get that "Over 100 hours game!" idea from advertising? It's not going to be even half of it.

And where can I get malachits? I got one from trading, I asked my servant thrice for it, once he failed, two times he said he's successful but correct DO NOT TRANSLATE item with Malachit in description wasn't added to my equipment.

I have 3 battle spells upgraded - fireball (very nice skill, isn't it?), firewall and that fire-thingy that hits 3-4 times (stopped upgrading that when it was level 4 because I saw it was developing too slow).

You can get very close to the 100 hrs if you drag the game out like I did and do everything.

The runners don't bring you malachite gems, they bring you ore.

here are a few of the gems I know about off the top of my head

In the horror of high hall quest you get 2-4 gems from beatrice from completing it, there are some traders you can buy them from. Also, look for Malachite ore veins and save before you open them so you can reload if they don't give you a gem.

I am sure I missed a bunch so others will have to help now

I explored everywhere and did all the quest in D2:ED and it took 75 hours (I think officially it was 40 hours). FoV is officially 20 hours, IIRC...

There are a couple malachite gems that can be purchased, some from quests, and if you reload at malachite veins (save before running your crosshairs over them) you can get up to 4 malachite gems out of each (1 or 2 are relatively easy to get, 3 are possible with a bit of patience or luck, while 4 are quite rare).

I don't know if any or all of this was changed in DKS, but from the D2:ED walkthrough (malachite gem section):
----------------
| Malachite Gems |
----------------

Needed for the best enchants in the game, these rare and elusive gems are
quite precious. While it's near impossible to get all of them in a single play
through of the game, using this list, you should be able to get enough to
comfortably enhance your favorite weapons, armor, and jewelry.

Broken Valley:
-You can buy two gems from Merchant Lamotte in the Broken Valley village.

-The only other gem you can acquire before adventuring in Orobas Fjords comes
from waking up the sleeping trio east of Lovis' tower.

Orobas Fjords:
-On the path leading to High Hall from the Depleted Ore Mine, you encounter a
traveling merchant by the name of Carleton. He sells a malachite gem, but be
careful! At the time of this writing, there is a bug that causes you to be
unable to buy from him if you open trade via dialogue. Click the Trade button
instead and you will be able to buy the gem.

-You receive two malachite gems as a reward for completing the quest 'The
Horror of High Hall'. If you read Beatrice's mind, the reward becomes four
gems, making this the single largest (reliable) source of malachite gems.

-If you read the goblin Charlie's mind while on the quest 'Reaping the Seeds',
a small treasure chest appears in the nest on top of Yggdrasil, and a
malachite gem is inside.

-If you chose Radcliff as your enchanter, you can trade the gem he asks for to
a pair of goblins in exchange for two malachite gems. Doing so will bar you
from ever getting a second upgrade for your workshop, but it's probably worth
the trade off unless you enchant a whole lot and hate utilizing your runners.

Malachite Veins:
The rest of the malachite gems can be found randomly in malachite veins. There
aren't many, and each one isn't guaranteed to have even one gem (though forum
rumors suggest up to four in a single vein). If you save your game before
approaching any given malachite vein, you can always reload until you get more
gems. However, it's probably not worth reloading as long as you get at least
one.

-The first malachite vein you're likely to encounter is in the Depleted Ore
Mine, just past the three pedestals with the red, blue, and dark books on top.

-There is a second vein just behind the first. After you finish plundering the
first, turn around and look up. You'll have to jump onto a rock to reach it.

-There are two malachite veins near the Patriarch. The first is along the
eastern wall and is relatively easy to find. The second is hidden behind some
rocks on the western wall, very near an empty wagon sitting just in front of
the wooden platform you stand on when talking with the Patriarch.

-Two more malachite veins are in the Lost Tomb (the cave opened by the four
treasure hunter's seals). The first is along the right wall as you approach
the stone platform. The second is beneath the wooden platform on the left.
...and those poor adventurers thought there was nothing of value in there.

-There are two malachite veins in the Well Cave, in the room where you fight
Zagan. It's relatively hard to get these without triggering the combat, after
which it's technically possible to still get the gems but rather difficult.
Simply hug the left wall as tightly as you can, jumping up onto tall rocks
instead of going around when possible. When you're directly south of the large
orb in the middle of the room, you should see a large, flat rock with two
malachite veins on it. If you activate the combat by mistake, it's easiest to
just reload.

-If you don't want to or can't reload, you'll have to exploit a bug to get
the above two veins. First, finish the combat and fly to the exit. Then, after
transforming out of your dragon form, turn around and walk onto the large rock
to the left. You'll want to jump out into the cavern, but angled sharply to
the right. If done correctly, when the game tries to auto-transform you into a
dragon, you'll get a "not enough room" error and fall into the lava, strangely
taking no damage. From there, you should jump out of the lava, work your way
around the orb with skillful acrobatics, and finally claim your gems. It's a
lot easier to just reload.

SPOILERS INCOMING

Summoned Ygerna, to be honest I expected it to happen. Damian letting you go on every occassion was suspicious. Wasn't sure that the voice was evil nor it was her, but not big surprise.

Divine One was PATHETIC in that memory. None of things I beat in Hades-thingy nor in that memory was a bit hard. Final mage skill (the one that gives you +% damage and at first takes away some stats, then only adds them after like 5 levels) + fireball + firewall and he's dead. He didn't even have to touch the firewall twice. Seriously, Larian, you should give him horridly-disgustingly-great stats!

Okay, I did this in case of every boss too, but Zandalor was much harder to beat, because he had more health points (or at least my spells took much less of his health, maybe high anti-magic defense) and regened himself. I had to do another round of fireball/firewall on him! Still, didn't really hurt me.

I don't like that we had to fight Zandalor, even if it wasn't... really him. Not only that I'm very fond of him (even if thing he did to Aleroth wasn't the wisest, but... I agree, if his plan worked out, the sacrifice done would be nothing), but also fighting someone who's a supposed mentor killed a bit of his awesomeness.

Again in Aleroth, spammed by quests everywhere. Is this still Ego Draconis or Flames of Vengeance already? I heard that ending of Ego was dissapointing, and if the game ended by Damian basically winning, I'd see why some would feel this way (still, awesome to me, and it wasn't even an ending to me tbh - still playing). Multiple movie sequences that happened also assured me of that. But what's going to happen is exciting!

...Yes, it's the second part, my suspicions were confirmed. Yet, Divine One and his little group... That was the easiest boss I've seen in my entire life. I know I play just on Normal, but... Still too easy! If I didn't knew they were so important, I'd bloody assume it was another minor figh

I saw nice pieces of equipment for sale (better than Ulthring's Set I have, I assume, even if I enchanted it in every possible way. Makes no sense that most powerful mage/warrior general of Damned One, who also got a very badass sword that was the very point of Divine Divinity, has worse equipment than that of... some merchant! I understand it aged, but still!).

Since I basically smash everything just like I did before (which is - fireball, die, if that doesn't work, nice finisher with a hammer), I assume I don't really have to upgrade anything and I will easily finish the game? It would be annoying, I used these "stones" of best quality to upgrade my stuff, thinking - after looking at menu - that after Ego Draconis ends, you will start the addon again with nothing! If I knew, I wouldn't...

Oh wait, then I'd never use these stones. (the only moment I put them inside my armor was when I've got full Ulthring set, which was less than hour before the ending)

But seriously, the addon is awesome! I loved the joke with that dying guy (won't spoil it, I remember some of you still haven't played Dragon Knight saga, right? Because of that we'z naht guin' to USA thingy) ...And many others. Seriously! I don't know who writes story here, but he's awesome. xD

And I love that everyone knows now who we are. And they aren't hostile! They respect us. Awesome!

I think Divine and Zandalor
were that weak simply because They were only Ygerna memory of them, she wanted us to win, so she presented( projected) them as much less powerful that they really are.

If they would be as powerful as they really are, then we would not stand even one second against them.

I agree that fov is good expansion, but
Shame about Rhode getting petrified. sad

And it's good that everybody knows about dragon knight, and they consider us heroes at least, and not some flying monster. smile

@raze: yup, that list is still good. Add
3 to 4 in the aleroth market from gem dealer and also drop exploit shaver posted which means any quest capable of spawning a gem as a reward can drop up to 5 and also Halliwells chest always spawns his locket and 1 malachite as a set drop

As for the time, you'll probably be talking a good 60+ for DKS with the replay factor adding more than enough time on it to make it a good purchase
