I have been for 5 days off and on trying to get past all the things that shoot the dragon and the ship. I get past the first ones shooting them down, but then either my dragon or the ship gets killed. I have read and read what to do, but can't seem to do it. This is too hard...

I wonder if it would be possible for formally request Larian to make the Zeppelin invulnerable on the "easy" setting, or at least to wait until it gets the signal that the route is clear... so many people have problems with this stage, and even after I eventually completed it, it left a bit of a sour taste for what was otherwise one of my best ever gaming experiences overall. I think it does seriously need to be addressed.

Did you low the difficulty level?

I also thought it was impossible, anyway... I just beat the game laugh you need to be quick and organized; I destroyed all the ballist towers with fireballs, and each time I had Patriach spell available, I used it against a nest or a lightning tower (when it's not, I killed it with fireballs). Of course the wyvern is very useful, as well as dragon spirit (I used it each time I had less than 600hp). Move a lot to escape arrows, and don't mind about creatures (your wyvern is going to kill them). Don't forget any tower or nest, but be quick to be as ahead as possible from the zeppelin.

Well, it was my strategy and it was pretty useful. To be efficient, you may need some tries (to know where towers are,...)

I'm not a great gamer, and I made it [on easiest level] wink It's possible, even if not easy at all.

i posted this in the other topic about end game dragon flight did you save your dragon armour that you picked up along the way you should replace what they give you with it makes it alot easier when it gives you + stats i think my dragon had 1200 hp and like 600 or 800 mana when i completed it fireball was pretty much maxed i could use firebreath all i wanted just needed to hold a sec to get enough mana up to do either the fireball or alittle longer for the big bomb eye of the patriach?. dragon armour doesnt take up back pack space so hold onto it also you cant stay still keep on the move use ur shield you flying wyvern is very nice to have up at all times and remember you can use both the healing spell and potions for your dragon (healing wise dont know if armour /dext / etc work)

Do you follow the trajectory of the zeppelin? Don't mind about insolated islands, clean only the chaplet of island that make the half circle. If you manage to get the zep unhurt until it begins to densate protections (when the map seems darker), you should make it.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm sorry to say that the zeppelin escort is very anticlimactic even though it was designed (thought/meant) to be a "spectacular" ending. I succeeded on only 2 of my 4 charcter runs. Looking back, I know I was very lucky on those 2 times. I actually gave up on the other 2 even though I knew what to do and what not to do. I love this game as a whole but I hate its aspects that heavily rely on luck just as much.

I'd like to close by quoting Bellegar's famous last rhyme:

Right with you on this.

I found this mission to be horrendously difficult playing with keyboard and mouse, though I suspect it may be easier with a gamepad.

It seems a shame that such an in-depth ROLE-PLAYING game cannot be completed unless your arcade skills are good enough, even on easiest difficulty level.

I play with the mouse and keyboard too. I keep trying off and on. If the ship didn't keep blowing up as I am working ahead I might get thru it....Thanks for all the help everyone.

Hmm, it took me only a couple of tries, the key is to stay way ahead of the zeppelin and just keep moving and blasting. Your powers are upped at this point so make sure they are all slotted and that you're using your heal. Oh and save the big power you're given for the clusters of weapons, don't waste them on single weapons if you can avoid it.

Good luck.

I do agree that it was anti-climactic, however.

While after reading these tips, I might try again in a while, I did not even bother to try very hard to finish the game after first taste of this zeppeling escorting mission.

I find at such odds the main story line missions when you are zapped as dragon, and that's it, without any possiblity to choose skills, wihtout any possibility to strategize your mission. I found the dragon parts of the game in total dull and unpleasent, whereas I really loved it overall, e.g. mindreading was great twist and very enjoybale gameplay innovation!

I also chose to start the Flames of Vengeance afresh, to avoid being overpowerful or overequipped, so I had only the default armor and dragon skills.

For me, the human shape is just much more nuanced, interactive, and affording real choices about combat style and tactics - dragon form was in my view quite bland and restrective compared. I did not mind it in the game in total, but I hope it is not pursued.

it should run through a couple of the ones i have done unfortunately it takes alot of time to upload videos so its not complete

Just made it on Normal on second try, the ship wasn't hurt 'til it was on the last part. It lost a bit of health at the end, when the guy complained about how much his ship is damaged and that he has to sacrifice. The damage though, I think, didn't came from ballistas, but from script. "Badly hurt" ship? I don't think so.

On a ballista tower, when you do fireball + breath, just when a tower falls you have another fireball available. Use it to quickly destroy towers.

Summon Vivern when you can, it can be useful.

Use right mouse button to fly very quickly as a dragon (use it at the start especially, you will gain few valuable seconds)

Use ability that gives health (number 6 or 5? the one with the heart).

Use bombarding when available, but it's not really needed (it's usually too slow, you will make it faster).

Use that awesome megafireball-thingy ONLY on big nests

Don't stand still for too long.

let's hope that in future games Larian will try to avoid escort quests, or made escort quest where we can control the one we are supposed to protect.

With great luck I managed to finish this mission on first try( I flied very far before the zeppelin) , but it was pretty difficult still (normal difficulty).

This mission was supposed to be challenging, but is instead annoying for many players.

Sorry larian, but this mission is simply a mistake (it could be good if it would be better developed).

not sure when u posted there pall did you watch the video ? out side of having Larian fly for you
dont know how much more you expect, I for one would like to see more dragon missions with the difficulty jacked up a bit it was more dificult for me flying and pressing keys to keep video flowing than it was to do the mission the question i have is how much hitpionts you have (also reflects back to video)using the dragon gear that the game gives you is horrid so if you keep the stuff from the beginning you should have an problem i havent tested it yet but you should be able to take the gear off your dragon and either keep it or sell it depending on your gear
