I don't know why everyone thinks Morrowind is very buggy...I've only experienced one bug (blocked me from finishing a quest). That's not as many as Well, I'm a big Morrowind fan too, I consider Daggerfall (gameplay wise) to be one of the best RPG's made, it also had some of the most bugs encountered in a single game. See, Bethesda's reputation is that a game isn't released until it has at least several major bugs in it still. Morrowind (for me), had the habbit of crashing every 1 hour or so, sometimes every 2 hours. There were also quite some bugs involving quests, which you might not find of course if you don't explore certain regions. In the readme files that come along the patches you'd find they did fix quite some bugs. Some people had plenty of bugs, some had none, it seems to be a Luck thing

(btw, I tried Arcanum, I couldn't stand it ) Then you shall die! Actually I tried Morrowind, I couldn't stand it . *prepares to be flamed by angry Betseda-fanboys* Note: Rheddhead (the guy who makes those NPC heads) made another set of heads: elven ones. Look very good, check the link I posted earlier and check it out

Well considering the scope of the game it isn't surprising, look at all the huge mmog's out there, they have way more bugs (many of them serious).

Awww! Dont get mad at poor DATD. He and Arcanum eloped against their parents will. He has no time for frivilous affairs with other games. Blame not his taste, just his dedication to true love.

About Morrowind ...
I've read somewhere on the Elder scrolls forum that the Game of the Year edition (Morrowind + 2 expansions) is released for X box, but it might take a while before it is released on the PC because the latest expansion (bloodmoon I guess it was ...) is still a good seller ...
So I think I'm going to wait for the Game of the Year edition before spending any money ...

Morrowind ... good post.
I have got this game in a package with my Radeon video card. Sure, I have installed it to see my card work in all it's beauty.
I would say, that graphics impressed me. I mean water ! sand storms ! yay, they rocked!
As for gameplay and character animation I was a bit dissapointed. My brave hero looked like ugly, sick dude, and he moved as he was 120 years old. I didn't like how the combat system worked also. Sometimes I had to almost jump on a target to be able to hit it with my sword. And all the same ordinary swings all the time (no styles). Finally, I just got bored with this game. It seemed boring at that moment.
But, I will not say the game is bad. I think maybe I will even install it again one day and give it another chance. There are things that make me still feel about interested to play it more. And I haven't tried to ride on that huuge bug-transporter thingie. And it was super cool to be able to equip many different clothes and see every peace of cloth visible on character (I mean separately gloves, boots, leggings, etc).
I would say, now that I like Gothic II much much better. But, this is my humble opinion, so, Morrowind fans, please don't take it personally.

@Soulflyer: Id reccomend that, I was going to do the same but the local comp store had Morrowind and Tribunal for such a bargain price I couldnt resist!
@Egin: We wont Egin, you like Planescape and that speaks volumes as to your good taste. Like DATD and I agreed to disagree, Morrowind is a matter of taste. It depends on what you want from an RPG. PS:T is pretty much the opposite of Morrowind. PS:T is tightly plotted and characterised. Morrowind is sprawling and amorphous. Both games can be hard to get into but both have their own rewards. All said, I like PS:T better, but Ill be playing Morrowind longer.

Ohh, you right. Yesterday I have seen Tribunal in a store. Damn expensive. Ohh, at least I still have lots of games still unfinished.

hooo Morrowind, one of the best games ever (imo). I never encountered that shutdown bug until I added the Daedric floating cities mod (that was crazy). I definitly had to take a break from that game though, it can get way too involved staying up till odd hours in the morning then realizing that I *have* to go to work or school the next day. My only complaint about morrowind is how addicting it is, I lost too many hours playing that game when I should have been doing homework, then makin up BS calculus equations for my homework that was due in the next hour. Needless to say that was a great downfall of mine. I think that because the game is pretty non-linear (I walked across most of the continent before I even bothered talking to my first NPC, minus the ones you had to in the first town) and so huge that many people may not like it for that fact alone. I found the scope of the game quite intimidating at first with all those NPC's. I was like oh, this is disappointing, its only an Island, how's that going to compare to the size of the land in Daggerfall. Stupid pre-judgement, my that one *little* island was huge. With the freeness (new word maybe?) of the construction set, I couldn't think of many other games that can or will best Morrowind just for the amount of replaybility (another new word?) that there is! Being the grandmaster of the assassin's guild is, after all, quite the accomplishment if you can achieve it (or find it for that matter without looking for spoilers). All in all, I still find it hard to understand how people don't like Morrowind, but I've been a loyal fan since Arena so I guess I'm really biased. Dunyain

Morrowind: A game I dislike by a company I hate I' ve got to agree with DATD. I disliked Morrowind from the minute I started it. Yes it got good idea's, yes it was grafical very OK, yes the story and the history were great BUT it dind't have what I discribe as "THE FEEL". has "THE FEEL", "THE FEEL" stopped me from ending Morrowind 3 quests from the end. And I also didn't like the skill system => I want to be a master of the spear before using a spear. And morrowind had no humor. If you stole something from someone you coulnd't sell it to that person . Yes I know realistic but not fun. Believe it or not but I tought Ultima 9 was more fun than Morrowind. I really hope that 2 in 3D will have "THE FEEL". With it is almost certain that it has "THE FEEL"

If I evaluate Morrowind: Graphics: OK Music: I don't really care but it's mediocre Voices: None (some pro reviewer complained about voice acting in DD: mind you, in MW there was none [almost]) Gameplay: Fine Story: Interesting enough. Everything seems in order but I simply cannot play it. I don't HATE morrowind. I dislike Betseda, yes, but I do not hate Morrowind. I don't really dislike the skill system: in Quest for Glory there was a common system and I love it. Jack, you are not born with the spear mastery, you need to learn it ;0).

But to me, the "Feel" is there in Morrowind, just as it was in Daggerfall (aka So-Buggy-You-Still-Fall-Through-The-Floor-Sometimes-Even-After-Installing-The-Gazillion-Patches-They-Released-For-It. Well, you really just need one patch anymore and it fixes a lot, but still buggy heh). Thing is though, to me, Daggerfall and Morrowind aren't very comparable except for the "rules". The actual gameplay is quite different in both sort of. All in all, Daggerfall is superior to Morrowind for me heh. Anyway, there's a saying in several languages that says that you can't argue about taste. At least we agree NWN is kinda crappy and that & 2 have the chance of being really good.

The PC version has some bugs, and It played wierd overall. I got it for X-Box and it ruled. And not a single bug. You can't plat the expansion if you play the xbox version, but the games disgustingly long anyway, so the only reason for the expansion is when it gets too easy. I strongly recommend getting it if you have an Xbox and suggest you just go play counterstrike if you don't.
