Despite your snide answer, it works. I was looking at the playhouse cellar entry all along, which IS locked.
I don't think it was snide, for what it's worth. Though I appreciate the frustration when faced by an inexplicably locked door, the solution to which is often a long time coming... or perhaps worse still when the answer is (almost) obvious but simply somewhere you hadn't looked!
