I just bought DKS.

1. How do I import my character from DKII?

2. Why do I have to deal with the "helpers" in my Battle Tower that I went through great pains to have killed first time around. I don't want Jonelath, Wesson and his bitchy wife, or Alvin and his magic potion. The only original trainer I got with the New Character(which I didn't want...see first question) was the Skills Trainer.

3. Who looted my Battle tower while I was gone? I had stuff there and I'd like it back.

4. Why is it stuff doesn't exist unless you mindread? How can it be that a key or switch doesn't even Exist until you spend 15000 or 22000 XP to mindread some random bozo? Mindreading to find out a password or trick is one thing but not having physicals exist until you mindread is Highly Annoying Bullshit.

5. Only a couple hours in so far...but are there more of those stupid "action-boy twitch-game" kind of dexterity tests? Like jumping between platforms and crap like that to look forward to? If so, I might just quit now before I get more pissed off at Larian and write off my $40 as a stupid waste.

I've been playing these game so long that I started back when I was screwing your mother.

With the PC version of the game you can install FoV over D2:ED and continue with your existing saves. There were too many changes made in DKS to maintain saved game compatibility.

There was a mention awhile ago of the possibility of Larian releasing a tool to import D2:ED saves and export them to the FoV part of DKS.

1. Divinity II and DKS aren't compatible IIRC. If you wanted to import your char, I think you should have bought Flames of Vengeance by itself. I wish Larian had made this more clear, but on the other hand, this is forum is packed full of posts on this subject of compatibility.

This also answers numbers 2 and 3.

4. Agreed.

5. I don't think so. I spent a lot of time wandering the city talking to people before I got bored. Never did get back to finishing up the expansion.

Q4: I believe they did that to avoid having people quicksave/load abuse. The key to Haliwell's room, I'll give you that, but the others, those are things that are supposed to be "perfectly hidden", "no metagaming for you, Player." kinds of objects.

Q5: I do remember there being a few areas where you need some smidge of platforming skills to traverse. One of those areas is a part of the main quest, but I really wouldn't call it "a test of dexterity". There's one that's particularly difficult(time limit, small margin of error), but it's not important to the end game, so take it as you will.

1-3) was already pointed out.

When you bought it was it advertised as an expansion or completely separate game? Although DKS is similar to D2 with the FoV expansion it should be considered a remake of a previously released game. Many developers have remade old titles and I've never encountered a remake that lets you import saves from its predecessor. Although I do agree the timing of the release would make you suspect that you could simply import your old games.

4) There's only a few times it is necessary to mindread to complete a primary quest. Yes, I understand some players dislike the gadget features as did some professional reviewers. I believe the requirement to mindread was to create a greater utility for an otherwise optional feature. I don't know about you but if mindreading was a requirement it shouldn't cost xp-- an issue that was pointed out in many previous critiques.

5) I'd just like to point out that this game is an action RPG so you can expect a few action adventure elements that require a little hand and eye coordination. I found it no more difficult than some classic titles like super mario or even legend of zelda. It's certainly not a shooter title that requires not only good coordination but fast accurate hand movements for aiming. But if you dislike these challenges, they are completely optional and do not contribute in anyway to the main plot as Meidosan pointed out.
