Why is this shield greyed out?:
[Linked Image]
I upped my character's strength to 25 to be able to wear this shield. Sometimes the shield brightens up and I'm using it, and sometimes it's greyed out like in the picture and I'm not using it. What could be going on here?

Never mind, sorry, I have figured it out. The staff must go down as a two-handed weapen, because when I replace it with an axe, the shield brightens up...

Glad you find out what happened wink

I'm playing a female Mage.
Since I use mostly bows I don't make use of a shield* and so that's not important for my Mage.
I spend the 5 first levels my points to Constitution only.

* but my heroin is always wearing a shield for the moments she use a one-hand mace/sword or axe.

Have fun with the game ! smile

I'm on my second start. The first start I played until the bridge, where the farmlands start, but I felt I had missed too much on the way.
I like to make a couple of restarts anyway, to get to grips with how things work. On my first start I mainly used the bow, and now I'm trying to get to grips with using magic.

I read somewhere that even for a mage it can be good to invest first in strength and agility, as you can't rely on magic alone. I see those nice axes lying around everywhere, so now I'm mainly investing in strength. Whether that's clever I don't know.

The RPG I played before this is Eschalon, and in Eschalon it certainly isn't clever to spread your skill points out much. Also restrictions like 'must first reach level x before investing in this further' don't exist there, so you can focus on just a couple of skills, reach a high level in those, and that way you get a much stronger character than when creating a jack of all trades.
I can recommend the game by the way, incase you haven't heard of it: http://www.basiliskgames.com

Divine Divinity has a more restrictive character setup. What works best here I don't know yet, but I plan to make lots of mistakes and to learn from them! hahaha
