It's the only sentance in Freelancer you hear more than twice ;0).

What? Are you kidding ?

-Hi,
-Do you have anything for me?
-New here?
-Ahhah

I have heard exactly this speech with same intonation again and again and again and ..... again. With every NPC.

Hmm, about the game it lacked something that I loved in Wing Commander: Prophecy or in Descent: Freespace.
But if you like freedom to fly anywhere do anything, you could give it a try.

Freelancer is fun but not for long. I have amused myself with it for a time but it is constantly the same. You are doing quests to get money to buy a better ship or weapons or repairing you ship.
In the story quests you just have to run and mostly when you are part of a group, the others are invulnerable and then the best thing to do is flying around and dodge the lasers and stuff.

And the sidequests are all the same, you have about 3 sorts of sidequests(which all look the same)
1. Kill the enemy's on a specific spot
2. Kill a special person and track him in you spaceship
3. Destroy a base

Freelancer was annonced as a free-form Space sim but all we got is a watered-down, arcade space shooter.

No dynamic prices because the devs thought it was "too difficult for the average player". The thing is: a small palm game called Space Trader DOES have dynamic prices.

As was said, no mission varieties. Again, in Space Trader you had many different missions: chase a fighter-prototype across the galaxy, fight a space monster who is menacing a planet, get rid your ship of space-rats (who eat your cargo and mangle your ship)... It was promised to have trader missions and such.

The Storyline is not bad although you are everything but not a freelancer. Very linear story, after finishing it you can throw the game away. Nothing original nor breathtaking.

It is far from a sim. No ejecting, shield balance, energy menagement, rolling, manual docking... All made for the "average user" which means the game is made for complete idiots. You CAN enjoy it but not for long. It's a game made for bargain-bins. Starlancer was awesome and now I think I know why: Warthog, a british company, helped Digital Anvil with the project. Finally it looked like Warthog did most of the work.

R.I.P. Freelancer.

I can't wait for Gothic 2 to arrive at EB(for some strange reason, EB is waiting to release in November, when it is currently available everywhere else in English)... Gothic 1 is definitly my favorite RPG next to Divine Divinity and the Lunar series.

Since www.amazon.co.uk accepts Visa, I plan on ordering it from the UK if that is possible, since they use pounds and we have USD, I don't know if it will work. I hope it does. Once it gets here I will tell you guys if someone doesn't first

I am lvl 31 paladin going to kill the last dragon

The game is addictive, indeed, and has good replay value.

But, the game has some minuses, will not tell until anyone asks, not to spoil things.

Yeah I have a few gripes as well, but no game is perfect I guess.

My gripes = crashes, bugginess, clipping problems, some of the voice acting seems out of place in the English version (Its all done with a heavy Brooklyn accent). Nothing to make me not play it, just grumble. Dont let me put you off it

Im just into chapter 2 Egin! Im playing as a Mercenary

-------------May contain spoilers---------------

It is very addictive at the beginning, when your character is weak and there are so many tough creatures and dangerous places.
- But, as you progress further the character becomes too powerful. I kill orc warrior in two hits. With 100% in 1h the speed of those 2 hits is around half a second (maybe faster).

- Big creatures, like trolls, golems and dragons are too easy to kill.

- It became a bit boring to clear out a castle area again after orcs spawned in new chapter.

- Switching between monsters if they attack in grp is frustrating especially if there is one friendly NPC fighting on your side (I always kill him occasionally )

But, one thing to remember - paladins seem to be the easiest class to play.

And no variety of armor.

Anyway, my opinion, this is awesome and must-have game.

I am still in the very weak, get eaten by monsters all the time stage I just got eaten by a shadowbeast. Those things are really nasty. I got killed by an Orc Warrior before and couldnt even scratch him

Anyway, Im stuck on a few things Egin and I will PM you, not tonight though. It is too late to game

That was the funniest part.

Sure, feel free to ask. I will be happy to help Mandrake.
