Bioware makes me cry inside when I think the greatness they used to produce.
On topic: DAII demo was one of the worst games I've played that had RPG attached to it, Pokemon Black has more depth...

The reviews are coming in, and are heated discussed at RPGWatch ...
A few things are what seemingly *all* reviews share in common :
- a single town as place of the main plot - no connection to "Origins" except the setting - too much copy & paste" environments - much more concentration on action and on combat - not that much focus on "playing a role" anymore
And much more. The game seems to have its ups and its downs, from what I perceive from the reviews.

I read on an Xbox forum (the Netherlands) taht there're gamers who really have fun with DA II ! And other ones less happy .. but in general many like the new game ... despites some issues ... Some of the gamers are writing they find DA II better than DA I, can you imagine that?
On 7th of february 2015 : I start a new adventure in the Divinity world of Original Sin, it's a Fantastic Freaking Fabulous Funny ... it's my All Time Favorite One !

There's also the SecuROM thing, which, if true, may be a direct violation of a court order. As for the game, Game Informer seem to have summed it up best: On all platforms, Dragon Age II caters to an audience that didn’t connect with Origins, while alienating those who did. This may result in a better console experience, but considering that Dragon Age: Origins was a love letter to old-school PC RPGs, BioWare’s neglect of the sequel’s PC release is tragic. I appreciate the technical refinements, but improving the polish doesn’t do much good when the basics still need work.

Hi everyone, have any of you played the demo that released today? What do you think?
I'll put down some issues that I have, and they're as follows:
- The gameplay is just bad. The combat is faster paced, though it doesn't have a 1:1 feel. I know that Dragon Age Origins didn't have this either, but it seems worse in Dragon Age II. It looks as if you should have full control of your character, but the combat is dull, boring, and I can hardly tell what's going on. On top of that, I hate that control still isn't 1:1, as I was fighting a large group of enemies and one enemy started to run away, so I was trying to attack the enemy closest to me, yet I couldn't attack the enemy because my character kept running after the enemy who was running away from me. Why don't I have the control? Why is my character like a magnet to the other enemy that's further away? So they took away the more strategic combat, yet they still left these issues. Do note that I've only played the Xbox 360 version so far.
- The graphics are super ugly. I'm not a graphics whore. I think Divinity II is a beautiful game. However, Dragon Age II has piss poor art direction, bland and muddy textures for environments, armor, etc. I like how expressive your main character can be, though. He doesn't look too bad, I guess.
- Linear point A to point B gameplay. This is supposedly an RPG, but there's like no exploration. The first one was linear, yes, which was one of my main complaints with that game, but this one seems like it holds your hand way too much. It's almost like they took the Final Fantasy XIII level design and copy & pasted it. Disappointing, to say the least.
Well, those are just a few of my concerns. Of course, though, this is just a demo and could change, but it's disappointing nonetheless.
Wait a minute, May i ask how you got the Demo?

The PC demo can be downloaded here, and at least in North America (and presumably every region that is getting a release) it is available on Xbox Live. The game itself is out now in North America and Europe.

I bought it on launch day and I hate myself for it. I loved Origins. But DA2 just doesn't hold my attention before it gets boring. I find myself switching to other games about 10 minutes into playing.

I've got a few more side quests to go on before I finish Chapter 1 (Deep Roads). This game is painfully linear. And for a game that is so closed off, the visuals are so bland and crappy. I'm not one to bitch and moan about graphics, but this game is ugly. Some of the main characters look decent during conversation scenes, but there are non-playable character models on city streets that look like they're straight out of 1995 - and no, I promise you, I'm not exaggerating one bit. Also, there are bland and flat textures, crappy paper looking 2D trees, lousy looking water, etc. This isn't a pretty game.
Dragon Age II puts me in an ugly world, yet I still want to explore it, though I can't due to the linear world that is chopped up into a ton of tiny little pieces with loading screens. Oh, and you visit the same caves a million times. They'll put you in different spots of the cave, even though you've already explored the cave, and try to trick you that you're exploring something new. Nope. Same cave. Same loot that you've already found. Nothing new. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Oh, and you get one city, which is Kirkwall. Everything is ugly. The art, the graphics, etc. So little content in terms of environments, yet they're all so dated, bland, and repetitive. Oh gee, thanks, Bioware. Not.

I just played Dragon Age 2. Yet I really hate the combat but i still continue to play because I love the hair of the female characters. :3 -SPOILER- Flemeth become younger now. and Was that Moriggan(Whatever the spelling is) at the very first cutscene? If she is, she sured changed.

It actually gets pretty good in ACT II. The story is not as epic as Origin's stories but the plot twists are unexpected and shocking. Combat is boring at first but as you gain more abilities, it does indeed get better. I also found myself using poisons and bombs unlike with Origins since Origins required you to have skills in poison making to throw a bomb whereas in DA2, you get the resources for a bomb, potion or poison and then you just buy it from a merchant who makes said substance and then you can use it whenever you want.
I also like the class skill trees. I've made a two handed warrior templar and I am going through it again in my fourth playthrough as a sword and shield warrior who specializes in defense. DA2 (just like in Origins) makes me want to create sub classes for the warrior class and DA2 handles that well.
Granted it does have flaws (many in fact) but that hasn't stopped it from being an enjoyable RPG experience.
The re-used areas, pointless and senseless quests in act 1 (one of the main quests is escorting a Qunari mage outside of Kirkwall, even if you turn down this quest - you still have to do it before entering the deep roads, even if you raise enough gold for the deep roads and get the maps for it, you still can't take that quest until you finish this Qunari quest, this Qunari quest and all other mage vs templar quests for ACT 1 should have actually been in ACT 2 or 3 or they should have been optional quests that you shouldn't have to do) and crappy textures for some NPCS do take marks away from this game though and I will be wary of buying for BW again.
I give it 7/10 and 8/10 at the best times.

The demo was rather brief and limited. Had they given the option to explore any more areas, there would be nothing left to see in the full version. I loved the first DAO/DAA. You had a vast area to roam, and the areas were different. In DA2 you are repeatedly tracing the same areas over and over. the storyline takes a completely different route, with very little connection, aside from a few cameos, from DAO. Although it would have been cool to run into your character from DAO with some interaction. However, the combat was improved and the textures looked great, but that's where I end the pros. It's still an (ok) game but doesn't hold a candle to DAO. I still haven't completed the game and don't if I will. It just doesn't hold my attention long enough to get there...

I've sold DA2 now. It's mediocre but content heavy for those who tough it out. Though I've gone back to DKS now where I've over 37 hours in as two characters.
