Phenomenal game guys. Few days ago I was surfing on steam looking for an RPG to play and sink my teeth and sword into, and thought I'd give Div 2: DKS a try. Previously, I had picked up Two Worlds 2, and well, that game was terrible in comparison.
Kudos, honestly the best RPG I have played in years. As the thread title suggests, I like it more then some of the big names out there. Better then Mass Effect 1&2, Fallout, Dragon Age, etc..
I was honestly kind of surprised I had only heard about this game now. Seems like a hidden gem that got overshadowed by big marketing budgets. Very impressed!
Pros:
-Graphics - fantastic gfx, and armor sets looks great
-Fluid and smooth animation!
-When you get to the top of a ladder, instead of just getting off of it, you did this cool flip! - I was lol'ing when I saw that, so fun and cute
-Great indepth atory
-Classes are fun and abilities are useful, really had to choose which skills I wanted (at least on normal mode) - didn't have to use a cookie cutter build
-Classes - can play a hybrid class, sword wielding battlemage? Sure np! Game allows you to mix n match and still be very viable
-Multitude of loot with great customization with charms and enchants
-Lot of humor found with many NPC dialogs with many NPCs having very distinct peronalities
-Very stable game. Not once did I crash
-Voice acting was outstanding as was the musical score. Music effects were also used very well setting the mood in relation to the environment you were in. My first dungeon, the music was kind of dark and creepy, I was loving it. Very immersive!
Cons:
- Adding skills to your hotbar can be a bit buggy, and to keep re-openining my skills tab to see if an empty bar slot would be useable
- I felt the save and load times were a little slow - too used to instant save and loads. Not bad (5s or so)
- When disenchanting, you can see what you have equipped. With enchanting, you cannot. Also with enchanting, it would be nice to show how your stats would change. Similar to how you have it set up in the inventory window when you hover over another item in your inventory
- Detailed information on your enchanting bonuses. For example, you have two items with ret aura on, that are 10% on hit to deal 10% dmg. So you have detailed information stating 20% on hit for 20% dmg, or something like that. Or with haling auras - info displaying your total HP regen rate with all enchants /charms/armor/skill specs
Honestly, not really many cons, and even the ones mentioned above are quite minor.
Anyways, I actually came to the board to see when/if Divinity 3 is coming out? Larian have definitely become one of my favorite gaming studios!
Again, well done!
