I have quite an issue here. I just got a new pc and installed DivinityII DKS a day ago, but either I want to load or start a game it just quits. It worked me first time, but now there's nothing I can do with it.

Did you remember to reinstall the patch?

When exactly does the game crash? (during or before a video or loading screen, etc)

Did you try starting a new game, at the beginning, and at the FoV section of the game? There are different cutscene videos played for each, for example, so if one works that may help narrow down the problem. However, you may want to avoid starting a character at the add-on section if you didn't finish D2:ED or had not gotten that far yet in DKS, to avoid possible spoilers.


By 'first time' do you mean it started once after you installed it, or that it worked fine on a previous computer? There is a known conflict between F-Secure Internet Security and the Securom copy protection that can cause the game not to start on subsequent attempts. It sounds like you are at least getting the game to come up, though, just not a save or new game.

If you're getting error code 14001, then you need to re-install your Visual C++ Redistributable (it can sometimes go wrong on the first install).

Otherwise, can you give some more information? Are you getting any kind of error code or message?

The only message I get is that Divinity II has failed tu run, and windows is searhing for the cause of the problem.

I installed the game previously on an other comp, but did not play with it, and also deactivated the code when I uninstalled it.

The game exactly crashes at about the middle of loading a game.

Fortunately I got it working some time ago in a really strange way. I added the newest patch and restarted the computer, but then it did not even start the game, so I uninstalled the patch, then restarted again and i got it working for about 15 mins, but it did crush when it had to load a new area.

On the patched D2D version of DKS:

I've probably crashed 100 times at L.Lane in FoV, no error messages other than "APPLICATION ERROR!" with a blank MessageBoxA-style window.

Once it starts crashing I bunny hop quicksave my way out or past and it stops, sometimes walking backwards (No joke) works.

I thought it might be trigger related, as sometimes when I reload it shows the Bellegar arena loading screen, and sometimes it seemed to crash when a couple of female NPCS were speaking (Specifically when they said "Bellegar.")

I'm having this same issue now.

after dropping several settings to low and turning off most of the checked options my game will bring up launch screen then it will black screen with about 2 inches on the right of the screen flashing between my desktop and black screen. this flashes about 5-6 times then the game crashes.

i attempted both of those before completely uninstalling and deleting the folder from the steam folder. I was still unable to launch and decided to try the deleting and installing.
