I think I'm missing something. In Buad's Storage cave in Broken Valley, there is a key, which opens a locked gate right next to the key. However, there seems to be nothing behind the gate - just some dirt and mushrooms and one plant sample. Is the gate really just protecting that plant? I notice there are glowey-sparkles rising from the dirt - is there some way to 'dig' the dirt and reveal something underneath that spot?

There is no way to dig, and nothing in there besides a plant and that mushroom (which is apparently valuable to alchemists, but there is nothing you can do with it).
