I've been thinking about this over the past couple days, as I rolled up a new character and started all over from the beginning. One thing I noticed in Flames of Vengeance is that Skill Books are handed out like candy at a parade - basically every single mission gives a skill book as a reward, plus I think there's a couple laying around in various nooks.
This is nice because it lets you finally see how the character plays with a well filled-out skill tree.
However, when looking at the entirety of both games, it seems like they should have taken about 5 or 10 of those skillbooks and made them available to the player in Ego Draconis. For example, in Broken Valley, it would have been nice if you could get maybe 3 more skill books. Why?
Well, I've found only 3 skillbooks since starting my new character. 1 in Farglow on top of the rocks in the goblin Arena. One in the secret tunnel's secret room underneath Broken Valley Barracks, and one in the Boar's Head. I know there's at least one more in Naberius's Storage (which I've almost completed the necessary steps to retrieve the password for it).
But, in your early character development, it seems like just getting your basic attacks levelled up takes most of the skill points you get from levelling up. Skill books allow you to fill in other, virtually required, support skills, like mindread, lockpicking, and inventory expansion. But, I still feel like I'd like about 3 more skill points at level 13. It's just my opinion of course, but I feel like 2 or 3 more skillpoints available by level 12 or 13, while still in Broken Valley, would have been really nice - you could level up attacks, support, and a defensive skill (right now, I have attacks and support, with no defense skill trained, because just not enough points).
