I played the Dragon Knight Saga demo the other day and decided to get Ego Draconis. I've made my way a good portion through the game and have decided I want to get Dragon Knight Saga, but I don't want to keep both copies. I'm wondering: Will I be able to continue from my save point in Dragon Knight Saga, or will I have to do it all over again?

There were too many changes made in DKS to maintain saved game compatibility with D2:ED (redesigned flying fortresses, changes to enemy placement and loot, etc). You can start a new level 35 character at the beginning of the add-on content, though, if you are far enough with your current character that it would be easier to finish off D2:ED before starting DKS.

On the PC, D2:ED saves are compatible with FoV, and playing the game there is a seamless transition into the add-on. After finishing your current character, there is a patch to convert D2:ED+FoV into DKS.

Ok I've completed D2:ED original edition that I got some months ago for the 360. I'm going to be picking up DKS today. What I want to know is can I import my D2:ED saved game to DKS for FoV content instead of starting over and replaying through the entire ED game on the DKS version?

He just answered that question right above:No.

You can start a new Level 35 character in the expansion, but it will have no equipment, nothing in the tower stash, and random tower assistants.

Actually, there was a comment by Lar some time ago about the possibility of hypothetically creating a tool to import a save at the end of D2:ED and export it to the FoV section of DKS. It was only mentioned once, though, and other releases of DKS have been out for awhile, so it seems highly unlikely such a tool will be made.

Well having such a tool would be epic and totally justify me keeping TDKS because I was working my way through ED and was around lvl26 when I sold my copy of ED and bought TDKS at this point I see it as a bad investment, having to play through again makes me not want to play it at all. Even if it only has to be made on console versions it should be made anyway since apparently on pc there is a transition possible and I feel kinda ripped off.

Hmmm ... why not start again in Farglow ? wink

There's soooo much changed with the loot and traders and much more "little" changes ...
.. You won't regret it to play all over again !
But you're a freee person to do what to wish, of course !
(but I'm happy I give myself always the time and freedom (in my Mind) to start over again, again and again biggrin )

On 7th of february 2015 : I start a new adventure in the Divinity world of Original Sin,

O I'm not saying I wouldn't play again from the beginning at some point anyway but I had a character that was halfway through the game at lvl 26 and I wanted to finish that character.
