I've been trying to get around in Aleroth for two days now, and am just about ready to tear our my hair.

I can see places on the map, but I can't get to them. I follow the map, start off in the direction i need to go, and just end up at a wall even though the map shows a passageway of some sort. I am literally going in circles. Also, I've been to some places that I can't find again (like the Playhouse, for example). All I can do is get from the north end of the city down to more or less the south end, walking along the west side of the city. I can' find the way into the south east side of the city or the east side. Very frustrating. And I think unecessarily difficult. I don't need to have to spend three hours finding a door on the map. This isn't my idea of fun. Really would just like to play the game.

If I could find the way into the other map area again I would mark it on my map, but I'm not enjoying myself any more and cant face another hour of two of wandering the same area over and over.

Can anyone point me in the right directions, with some landmarks I can use to get around?

Ehm, the map's layout is REALLY easy.

How did you get around the Fjords or Flying Fortresses? Those are a pain to navigate?

From the Ministry through the doors you enter Lel-something Lane. Playhouse etc. is there. From the ministry down is that which was trodded in ED. From the gate you get (once passing the tree puzzle) to the "Slums"...

Isn't there just the marketplace + Lanilor lane which leads to another square with the city gates?

Pretty much.

Though the lane is dead-end, the exact same path to the gates is taken in ED though.

There's an elevator. Use it.

There are some areas in the map with no hint at them being a level *below* other streets.

Or just jump down and use the transporter from the main gate to the ministry, it's faster smile

I think he is partially right - there is a small area beyond the dead end at the bottom of Lanilor lane that I can't get to. The other end of the area is behind a closed gate in Source Square which does not open. Other than that, I found my way around OK.

the elevator is pretty massive its probably the biggest one in the game and as such could easily be mistaken for just a wooden floor
im not sure if its possible to go up it and jump of but if it is there should be a call button around

the east side of the map is inaccessible as far as im aware
heres a map with the elevator marked

Wasn't it that you also used it in ED, so one should know what it is...

Although I guess if this WAS ED and he tried getting to the Playhouse (FoV) that could explain things.

I got the elevator OK, & I'm almost finished DKS but it's just that small area. Unless the end of the game is to do with that part but I don't think so.

In ED there was a champion fort in Orobas Fjords that I couldn't find my way into. Turned out this part was going to be used in the game but for some reason wasn't and sealed off. The gate that led up to it was in the back of the docks at champion harbour.

Where did you have the information from that it was planned but not used ?

Read it somewhere but can't remember exactly where as it was ages ago when I first played ED. Tried again on second playthrough (DKS) but if someone can tell me how to get into the champion fort, please do. I looked at a couple of walkthroughs but this wasn't mentioned.

There was some speculation that there may have been more to that area that was removed or that was planned but never got implemented, but it could also just have been there for atmosphere (the champions need a headquarters somewhere).
